    Cake Trends On The Rise In 2024, According To A Pastry Chef Trends are far from limited to just fashion. The food world cycles through fads and styles just like any other industry, and this is especially true with cake decorating. Cupcakes were once the trendiest item to have at both big celebrations like weddings, but also as dessert while hosting a small dinner party or gathering. (I should know, I used to work at one of the most popular cupcake shops in America.) But just as shoulder pads were gradually removed from garments, cupcakes have taken a back seat to other cake styles, from naked cakes, to more recently, Victorian or Lambeth piped cakes. Still concerning 2024’s Top pastry and baking consumer expectations, one of the most significant trends in the pastry world has been the increasing popularity of plant-based desserts. With more consumers adopting a vegan diet, there’s a growing demand for vegan-friendly baked goods. As this trend has been steadily on the rise for many years now, food and beverage companies have begun to adapt and. The whole industry has evolved to produce innovative plant-based pastries. These baked goods are just as tasty and now just as readily available as their non-vegan counterparts.
