Man found fatally shot on Near West Side

About 2:10 a.m., officers responding to calls of a person shot in the 1200 block of West Washburne Avenue and found a 43-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to his body, Chicago police said.

A man was found fatally shot early Friday on the Near West Side.

About 2:10 a.m., officers responding to calls of a person shot in the 1200 block of West Washburne Avenue and found Demetrius Dorn, 43, with multiple gunshot wounds to his body, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

No one was in custody.

Almost two hours earlier and a couple of blocks away, eight people were wounded during one of two mass shootings early Friday. It was unclear if the Washburne attack is related.

The three males were in the 1200 block of South Lawndale Avenue about 6:30 p.m. when a vehicle drove up and someone from inside fired shots. Three people were shot and hospitalized in good condition.
