The Olympic Museum: As seen in The New York Times Travel section! 🌍 The Olympic Museum garnered international attention today after being featured prominently in The New York Times Travel section. ✏ The The New York Times article, titled "Lausanne, Where the Olympics Never End”, was written by Seth Sherwood and illustrated with photos by Darren S. Higgins. The article emphasises the Ville de Lausanne's deep-rooted connection to the Olympic Movement, as the home of the International Olympic Committee – IOC and the Olympic Museum, along with the city's designation as the Lausanne, The Olympic Capital. The recognition highlights the museum's unique appeal as a tourist destination that celebrates the history, culture and spirit of the Olympic Games. The New York Times article lauded the museum for the “remarkable stories” in its exhibitions, interactive features, Olympic Park and stunning lakeside location. Step into the photographic world of ceremonies at the Olympic Games 📷 With one month to go before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, UNESCO and the Olympic Museum have now opened one of the largest outdoor free cultural exhibitions in Paris. 🌍 “Cultures at the Games!” is a photo exhibition celebrating the cultural diversity and sporting values highlighted through iconic photos of Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies. The exhibition was curated by the Olympic Museum and is presented on the exterior fencing around the UNESCO Headquarters. The images, drawn entirely from the diverse photography archives of the International Olympic Committee, capture the essence, splendour and emotional depth of the Olympic experience over more than a century. The 134 photographs showcase the athletes and officials of 206 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) from every country and continent: an explosion of colour, traditional and national costumes, different nationalities and flags from around the world. “Cultures at the Games!” will be presented through 30 September at 7 Pl. de Fontenoy in Paris. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Read more ➡ https://lnkd.in/ey8THM77. Paris 2024 - Comité d'organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de 2024

From the City of Angels to the City of Light: your new must-see location in Paris! 🎉 The International Olympic Committee and the City of Paris officially inaugurated the Olympic Sculpture on 23 June, Olympic Day. Los Angeles-based artist Alison Saar unveiled her beautiful work, "Salon" (2024), now permanently installed in the public garden of the Champs-Elysées, honouring the legacy of Paris 2024. "'Salon’ is an invitation for dialogue; for exchange; for coming together; for sharing. In this way, your sculptures are a wonderful illustration of what happens at the Olympic Games," said IOC President Thomas Bach to the artist. The bronze sculpture consists of a figure of a woman seated on volcanic rock, holding olive boughs in one hand and a polished gold flame in the other. She is seated in a circle of six chairs, each representing a different region in the world, and points to variety of industries, occupations and interests. The work serves as an invitation to the public to take a seat, meet others and engage in dialogue in a spirit of shared humanity, illustrating the Olympic ideals of a peaceful and inclusive society. 🤝 The sculpture was produced over five months in France under Saar’s supervision, both to promote eco-sustainability and to support French craftsmanship and suppliers. The Olympic sculpture is part of the Olympic Art Visions programme, managed by the Olympic Museum. The programme, unique within the Olympic Movement, strengthens the ties between host cities through an international artistic community that symbolically "passes the torch" from one edition of the Games to the next. Saar succeeds Xavier Veilhan, who created 'The Audience' (2021) for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, a work that was installed permanently in the heart of the Japanese capital.
