Addressing backlogs and unresolved issues in AV is topping the charts for enterprises in 2024. According to a recent survey by Kinly of 425 AV professionals in the UK, Germany, Nordics, and the Netherlands, enterprises are gearing up to rip out their pre-Covid-era tech. Here are some key findings from the survey: 🔸 41% need a complete replacement of their AV tech 🔸 46% feel prepared to remove & replace pre-pandemic AV tech 🔸 Despite 49% feeling budget cuts, AV remains a key asset to their business, with 66% having a plan in place for any future pandemics 🔸Network infrastructure (42%), remote support (35%), and unified communications and collaboration software (33%) are listed as priorities for their AV investment CEO of Kinly, Tom Martin highlights the importance of a hard reset approach, emphasizing the need for robust, scalable AV solutions for workplaces that are "future proof". Structured Tech Facts (STF#17)   Sounds about right… Let’s talk digital & analog audio. Analog Analog audio technology represents sound as continuous waveforms. In analog audio systems, sound is captured and stored in its original form, without converting it into digital data. This is typically done through physical processes, such as microphone diaphragms moving in response to sound waves, or the grooves on vinyl records. PROS: Analog audio provides a continuous representation of sound waves, which some argue can lead to a more natural and immersive listening experience. Also, since analog audio does not involve the conversion of sound into discrete digital data, there are no quantization errors introduced during the recording or playback process. CONS: However, analog audio signals can degrade over time due to factors such as noise interference, electromagnetic interference, and signal degradation in analog recording mediums (e.g., tape deterioration). Analog audio systems may have a limited dynamic range compared to digital audio systems, which can result in reduced fidelity and clarity, particularly in quieter passages of music. Digital Digital audio technology represents sound as a series of numerical values, which are stored and processed as binary data (0s and 1s). In digital audio systems, sound is captured and converted into digital data through a process called analog-to-digital conversion (ADC). This digital data can then be stored, transmitted, and processed using digital technology. PROS: Digital audio can achieve high levels of fidelity and accuracy, as it is not subject to the same degradation and noise interference as analog audio. Digital audio can be easily manipulated, edited, and processed using digital tools and software, allowing for greater flexibility and creativity in audio production and editing. Upgrading from a cheaper Optoma projector, this reviewer is blown away by the Sony's picture quality. Sony's technology delivers true blacks, unlike the Optoma's washed-out dark tones, and the HDR (High Dynamic Range) makes colors pop with stunning vibrancy. Beyond the core picture quality, the Sony projector boasts several user-friendly features. The remote control allows for electronic adjustments to focus, zoom, and horizontal/vertical alignment – a huge plus compared to the hassle of manual adjustments, especially for ceiling-mounted projectors. You can even zoom in on widescreen movies to fill your entire screen with the remote, and the picture controls are intuitive and easy to use. The icing on the cake? This projector runs incredibly quiet, even when powering down. However, there's one caveat for 3D movie fans. Unlike most projectors that use DLP glasses, this Sony requires Bluetooth 3D glasses.
