But that doesn't mean we should be blind to the underlying technology when looking at regulatory frameworks for asset tokenization." Hooray for the crypto Swiss! A public referendum for SNB #CentralBank bitcoin investment is [hopefully] on the way... Goal: to strengthen Switzerland's sovereignty + neutrality” away from the European Central Bank and its fiscal/inflationary 'hole'. #BTC ETF AuM has hit $60bn in only 3mths - backed by trillion dollar AuM titans like BlackRock (#IBIT $17bn) + Fidelity Investments (#FBTC $8bn). As such BTC is now a permanent, legal and institutional part of the investment landscape + a new source of Alpha. It's clearly the right time for solvent nations (eg #UAE, #Saudi?) to take such a step. HARD MONEY VS MONEY PRINTING The bill sponsors note that bitcoin "is more robust in the long term than #euro and #dollar investments, whose economies tend to use #inflation to reduce their mountains of #debt and thus also devalue the SNB's investments." “By including Bitcoin in its reserves, #Switzerland would mark its independence from the ECB" - a crucial matter given the ongoing fiscal self-harm in Europe. Such a move would also widen the divergence from the ECB given SNB's recent public + negative position on retail #CBDCs vs. the ECB's strong #DigitalEuro agenda + a very public, persistent and conflicted Anti-Bitcoin pos'n. CB reserves are often in rising sovereign debt, (euro avg of 80% debt/gdp vs swiss 40%). Default / devaluation risk is rising - is it prudent for stronger countries to place their wealth in the currencies of weaker ones? THE PEOPLE SPEAK Swiss #crypto evangelist Yves and founder of non-profit think-tank 2B4CH is the petition sponsor together with support from  Luzius Meisse (President $5.5bn AUM Bitcoin Suisse AG) who adds that Switzerland is CHF30 billion ($55bn) poorer because they ignored his prior proposal (SNB 2022 general meeting) that the SNB should buy CHF 1 billion Bitcoin a month rather than German gov' t bonds. 100,000 signatures (~1% of the pop' n over an 18mth period) are required to initiate the referendum to amend the constitution. This may not be that hard - gov't owned PostFinance allows 2.7mm retail customers (14% of customer deposits) can easily buy Bitcoin. In Lugano you can now pay your taxes in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies - the ultimate use case and government endorsement. A simple two word amendment to the #bank's constitution is being proposed: “The Swiss National Bank creates sufficient currency reserves from its income; part of these reserves is held in gold "and Bitcoin”. Polymarket has been one of the most talked-about crypto apps in recent months - but what explains its momentum? For those of you who aren't familiar with the platform: Polymarket is a so-called prediction market that allows users to bet on the outcome of a wide variety of events using US stablecoins - be it elections, pop culture topics or sporting events, such as the question of what country will win the most medals at the Paris Olympics. Although the platform launched in 2020, it has only recently gained significant traction, now boasting 38,000 active users and $324 million USD in trading volume this month - making it the biggest prediction market today. To put these figures in perspective: During Q1, the platform averaged a monthly volume of around $50 million USD and had between 2,000 and 4,000 active users per month. The recent growth was driven primarily by the prediction markets related to the US presidential elections, which currently account for around 70% of the platform's total trading volume. With increasing volumes, Polymarket's media relevance also rises. Its ability to capture real-time political sentiment, often more accurately than traditional polls, is leading more mainstream media outlets to use its data for reporting. The interesting part is that prediction markets have been around long before crypto, but since their effectiveness depends on having enough participants and capital, they greatly benefit by the global accessibility and liquidity provided by blockchains. To accelerate the platform's growth, Polymarket recently announced that renowned statistician and author Nate Silver will join the company as an advisor. Silver is famous for his precise predictions in the US presidential elections, especially in 2008 and 2012, when he accurately forecasted the outcomes in nearly all states. But although Polymarket is already hailed as crypto's 'breakout app' by many, the platform must tackle a major challenge in the upcoming months first: maintaining its momentum beyond the US election. #crypto #blockchains #web3 #startups #innovation #venturecapital

ICP is a stellar example of the worst token dynamics ever. If your token chart resembles the one below, I've got some unfortunate news for you... Anton Golub and Jelle Buth provided insightful takes on how tokens launch at a high Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV), slowly bleed out as airdrop recipients sell, and then collapse as VCs unlock. This framework is fueling a 'down only' paradigm where prices plummet. There are two measures of token supply: > Circulating supply: tokens actively circulating. > Fully diluted supply the maximum number of tokens ever. Circulating supply increases over time until it equals the fully diluted supply. If team tokens are locked at Token Generation Event (TGE) and start vesting in month 12, they get added to the circulating supply. They were always part of the fully diluted supply. Market cap = circulating token supply * price Fully diluted valuation (FDV) = fully diluted supply * price Market cap is a measure of demand, while FDV is just a measure of supply; FDV increases as market cap increases because both metrics are based on the current market token price. However, market cap going up does not mean there is additional demand for those locked tokens. Holders of locked tokens may, in fact, be happy to sell at much lower prices. So FDV can be a wildly inaccurate metric of true network value. FDV probably doesn't matter much for retail unless they get caught holding the bag on an unlock. But FDV matters for VCs because they are the ones holding the locked tokens. The vast majority of protocols today raising from decent VCs have a one-year cliff and then vest over another 18-36 months. VCs should value assets at expected FDV in 3-4 years because that is a true reflection of what they could return to their LPs, but alas, that is not how this market is working. What is this current paradigm I talk about? 1/ Launch token at high FDV 2/ <20% token supply circulating 3/ No public token sale 4/ Large airdrop Maybe once the airdrop paradigm started, this was the natural way to boost the $ value of the airdrop without giving more tokens. VCs and teams can sell locked tokens, but I'm not sure there is that much demand for locked tokens. This, of course, is not always how these projects are being launched. L1s are quite different, for example. Let's look at NEAR. 20% circulating at launch, but the community sale immediately started unlocking, with 50% circulating 1 year in, at a $500-800M FDV out of the gate. They managed to go through it thanks to strong community and a solid base of token holders who have a relatively low cost basis. Thinking back to the ICP chart...do you think there's a strong community behind ICP? Or behind most tokens for that matter? Price increases can catalyze a real community/developer ecosystem. However, the reverse is also true and can be brutal. And it's token users who protect the system not just token holders.

Most discussions around Blockchain/Web3 are always focused on BTC/ETH #ETF, #DeFi, #L1/L2/L3 for quick returns, leading to an over-saturation of unused infrastructure and many dying projects. Not much attention is given to the relevance of #Web3 and the Creator Economy. (Some of this information you might already know) Web1 > Web2 > Web3 represents a new era as technology advances and new user behaviors are influenced by increasingly sophisticated tools. The creator economy is marked by progressive changes or states in each era: - Web1 (30+ years ago): Businesses (Centralized) Content = Where static content created by a small number of producers (e.g., big companies) was the initial opportunity for creators. - Web2 (started 20+ years ago): User-Generated Content (as Gen X and Y wanted to be heard) on centralized platforms revolutionized the business model and spurred the growth of the creator economy. - Web3 (believed to come): Commoditizing User-Generated Content on Decentralized platforms. Gen Z (asking "Why should my data/creation be sold and I get only a fraction?") is leading to the robust acceleration of the next creator economy and innovative business models. Core Technologies in the Next Wave of the Web3 <> Creator Economy:- 1. Social Media/Content/Streaming Platforms ✅ (Matured tech and use cases) 2. Digital Marketing Tools ✅ (Matured tech and use cases) 3. Artificial Intelligence (AI) (maturing tech with killer use cases) 4. What's driving the growth in Smart Contract platforms? Let’s review SCP’s Key Metrics Q4 2023 report by #Messari ✒ Here are the summarized key highlights from the report: 🔸 Market Cap Dynamics: Solana and Avalanche increased 422% and 345%, respectively, impacting ETH's dominance and doubling daily revenues to $10 million in Q4, with Ethereum's revenue up 47% to $655 million. 🔸Revenue Growth: Avalanche's revenue increased 2874% to $56M, mainly from Dec 14-22 Avascriptions craze, being the biggest gainer. 🔸Daily Active Addresses: Solana's daily fee payers surged 102% QoQ to 190,000, and it’s Q4 average transaction fee was significantly lower than other networks, including Ethereum by 3X 🔸Avg Tx Fees: L2s generally have higher transaction fees than L1s. Ethereum's EIP-4844 aims to slash L2 transaction fees by over 90% in the Q1'24 Dencun upgrade, exploring additional solutions like Celestia. 🔸DeFi TVL: Increased 36.2% QoQ to $56.5 billion, Ethereum holds 64% dominance; Solana's TVL spiked 303%, driven by MarginFi's program, reaching $1.5 billion, becoming Solana's top protocol by TVL. 🔸Stablecoin Market cap Growth : Base (Biggest gainer) saw 53% QoQ growth from Project Diamond; Solana and Arbitrum stablecoins grew 21% due to incentives. 🔸Dex Volume: Solana's daily DEX volume surged 961% QoQ to $416M, overtaking Ethereum's, with overall DEX volume up 74.6% to $2.9B, driven by JTO airdrop and memecoin trades, with BONK-SOL pair up 11,000%. 🔸NFT: Q4 NFT volume rebounded to $16.3M daily. i think i wish for christmas a plugin that works with either my metamask wallet and or a private key where i will top up my funds via FIAT to Wallet as we go for the investment. 1. search for opportunity 2. top up wallet EUR to EURe or if denominated USDC then quick swap on chain EURe to USDC 3. interact with smart contract (e.g that your wallet is already verified to deal with on chain products verified by a trusted on chain party which is trusted by the issuer as well) 4. get back dividends/interest into wallet and auto route it to FIAT if i want also easier to track portfolio vs 10 broker UIs....

Opalesque #LiquidCryptoHedgeFunds   Liquid Crypto Hedge Funds vs. Venture Capital Crypto Funds: Kevin Dougherty and BR Capital's liquid fund "strategy is to take positions in the tokens/protocols with the best risk/reward profiles such as Ethereum, Solana and Toncoin for the Smart Contract sector, Uniswap and Jupiter for the DEX sector, or Render for Artificial Intelligence, etc., and adjust its positioning as the market develops and it becomes clearer which will be the 'winners', he continues. "At this phase of market evolution, sector leadership - the point where Facebook became dominant and Myspace and Friendster faded away - is likely to emerge quickly, and our SP2 strategy has the advantage over crypto VC strategies as it can quickly consolidate its holdings into the winners." Venture Capital (VC) funds cannot do that; a crypto VC fund backing protocols on other smart contract platforms such as Cardano or Polkadot, for example, cannot easily switch all of its investments into the winning network protocols. Finally, the institutional investment ecosystem around crypto is currently very different from any other asset class. Indeed, crypto VC firms had about $72bn in AuM at the end of 2023, whereas crypto hedge fund strategies only managed ~$15.2bn (Fundamental strategies held $11.4bn, Quant Directional funds $1.8bn, and Market Neutral funds $1.9bn according to digital-asset financial services firm Galaxy Digital). This roughly 80/20 split in favour of VC is the reverse of every other asset class, where hedge fund strategies are dominant with 90%+ of AUM. Dougherty expects the changing cryptocurrency institutional investment ecosystem to become more similar to those other asset classes, resulting in much greater AuM allocated to hedge funds like SP2.
