Swiss-Mile, a deep tech spin-off from ETH Zurich, collects insights and eases labor by connecting AI with the physical world using autonomous machines. Mobile robots have vast potential, but many lack the ability to effectively navigate obstacles, move over large distances, and carry significant loads. Moreover, their reasoning capabilities often limit widespread adoption. Therefore, we introduce AI-driven wheeled-legged robots to bridge this gap. Our patented design combines the best of wheels and legs, allowing the transport of payloads and sensors across vast distances, even on challenging terrains. As AI advances in interpreting online content, we anticipate AI systems requiring versatile embodiments and real-world reasoning, exemplified by our robot and its autonomy in dynamic urban settings. Furthermore, we go beyond technology, integrating customer-centered services into our offerings.

스위스에 있을 때 했던 바퀴 달린 보행 로봇의 자율주행 연구가 사이언스 로보틱스 저널의 스페셜 이슈에 오늘 출판되었습니다. 좋은 멤버들이 있어서 보행, 네비게이션, SLAM 까지 모바일 로봇에 필요한 건 다 입맛대로 쓸 수 있었습니다. 박사과정 말에 여러 가지 문제로 힘들었는데, Swiss-Mile 친구들과 Takahiro Miki 가 도와줘서 잘 마무리 할 수 있었던 것 같네요. Our work on developing an autonomous wheeled-legged quadruped is now published in the Special Issue on Legged Robotics of Science Robotics Journal. We developed a full-stack navigation system for kilometer-scale autonomous missions. Driven by neural network policies, our simple, unified control system enables smooth gait transitions, smart navigation planning, and highly responsive obstacle avoidance in populated urban environments. Collaboration with my friends who are now at Swiss-Mile and Takahiro Miki was a great learning experience. Is this what the future of last-mile delivery in the city looks like? 📦 Applying their embodied AI, the team from Swiss-Mile are teaching robots how to move and interact with things more easily, while cutting down on the need for a lot of specific programming for each task. Their method focuses on a simple goal (giving a +1 reward when the task is done right) and uses a built-in drive, kind of like curiosity, to help the robot explore and learn how to reach that goal. By combining this technology with wheel-legged robots, Swiss Mile are focusing on two commercial use-cases. the Robotic Mule for last mile delivery, and the Robotic Watchdog, for monitoring and security 💡 #robotics #AI #autonomy
