Transparency and consumer safety are non-negotiable for us at OEKO-TEX®. Rigorous testing is part of our daily business, but every testing method has a limit of detection. The limit of detection is the smallest amount of a harmful substance that can be reliably identified. No matter how advanced the equipment or technique is, there's a minimum concentration below which detection becomes uncertain.    Understanding our testing methods' limit of detection, allows for accurate result interpretation, avoiding false positives or negatives. We’re committed to continuous improvement, pushing the boundaries through research and collaboration.     At OEKO-TEX®, we utilize highly sensitive testing methods. This ensures we detect even the smallest amounts of harmful substances, exceeding many regulatory requirements. We believe transparency is key and enjoy sharing information on our testing methods and their limits of detection.    #OEKOTEX #LimitofDetection #TestingMethods #Quality

Let’s talk about greener chemistry! It's about using chemicals responsibly to minimize environmental impact.    The textile and leather industries heavily rely on chemicals, which raise a crucial question: how can we enjoy the benefits of modern clothing production while protecting our health and the planet? Many consumers and producers alike are unaware of the vast amount of chemicals used (dyes, bleaches, adhesive etc.) in textiles.    At OEKO-TEX®, we strive to minimize these impacts and encourage the industry to use chemicals responsibly.     How can this be implemented?     - Designing chemicals and products to be less hazardous and safer for human health and the environment - Preventing waste through careful design and production processes - Using renewable feedstocks derived from agricultural products or waste materials    By embracing greener chemistry, the textile industry can move towards a more sustainable future.    #OEKOTEX #GreenerChemistry #Chemicals

This World Environment Day, the focus is on land restoration – a cause deeply woven into the future of textiles. Land degradation, often caused by conventional cotton production with heavy reliance on pesticides, has negative consequences for the land itself, polluting water sources and harming ecosystems. Cotton is a land-intensive crop and healthy soil is crucial for its production.    Sustainable practices are essential to ensure the future of our industry. Land restoration has a power towards boosting communities, combating climate change and protecting biodiversity.  A key solution is organic cotton. By eliminating harmful pesticides, organic cotton farming promotes healthier soil, reduces water pollution and fosters biodiversity. This creates a more resilient ecosystem that can better support cotton production in the long run.    #OEKOTEX #WorldEnvironmentDay #OrganicCotton #Change

We believe that the (current) linear economic model, where raw materials are extracted, processed, used and ultimately discarded, is no longer viable. It generates vast amounts of waste and pollution, often heavily linked to the chemical processes involved in textile production.  This is especially concerning for chemicals that pose health risks and environmental contamination.      We believe the future of textiles lies in embracing the circular economy. This means:     - Sustainable Raw Materials: Shifting towards organic fibres, recycled materials and responsible sourcing practices.      - Closed Production: Developing innovative production processes that minimize waste and maximize resource recovery.      - Safe and Sustainable Chemistry: Promoting the use of non-toxic chemicals throughout the textile lifecycle.      Our OEKO-TEX® certification standards are constantly evolving to reflect the latest scientific advancements and consumer demands for sustainable textiles.         #OEKOTEX #Circular #Materials #Chemicals

Many consumers today want to know where their products come from and how they're made. Labels are a crucial first step, but what if they could tell us more?    Traceability, paired with clear and informative labels, unlocks a new level of transparency. Imagine scanning a QR code on your coffee bag and seeing the journey of those beans – from farm to roaster.    Here's how traceability with OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN empowers informed choices:    - Verify Safety: OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN labels tell you a product is tested for harmful substances. Traceability allows you to see where the articles are manufactured, providing trust and credibility.    - Support Sustainable Practices: Traceability can reveal a product's environmental impact during production. OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN labelled items with transparent supply chains support responsible practices.    The future of labels lies in transparency powered by traceability.   What additional information would you find most valuable on product labels?    #OEKOTEX #Traceability #Label #MADEINGREEN

Consumers are demanding greater transparency in the fashion industry, particularly regarding the use of pesticides and chemicals in cotton cultivation. These practices harm not only our environment, but also workers (on the field and during manufacturing) and buyers who come into contact with these harmful substances.    At OEKO-TEX®, we're committed to supporting conscious choices. Our OEKO-TEX® ORGANIC COTTON certification offers a multi-layered approach to textile safety and sustainability:    👉 Unmatched Transparency: We test for a comprehensive range of harmful substances, exceeding the requirements of OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100. This includes banned substances like Azo colourants and the intentional use of PFAS, as well as rigorous testing for pesticides. 👉 Global Standards: Our testing adheres to the strictest regulations worldwide, including REACH by ECHA, CPSIA, and the EU POP regulation. We also cover all textile-relevant substances on the ECHA's SVHC candidate list. 👉 Enhance Product Quality: OEKO-TEX® ORGANIC COTTON signifies quality textiles that are responsibly sourced. This translates to a safer product for your customers, setting you apart from competitors.    #OEKOTEX #OrganicCotton #Certified
