Enriching the Golem ecosystem.

Info

We fund, develop, and promote projects that further advance the vision of Golem and find new promising use cases for its native token, GLM. We aim to give power back to the users by freeing them from dependency on on‑line service providers, allowing them to interact with their data with tools of their choosing, and giving them control over code and underlying infrastructure. Our main focus is on internal research and development but we are open to cooperation in the wider decentralized ecosystem, including financing external teams whose goals are well aligned with the vision of open, decentralized, and user‑controlled Internet.

🚨 Time for an announcement!🚨 We’re transitioning to #QuadraticFunding (QF). This is one of many steps we’re taking to better support community-driven projects. 🤔 Why QF? We’ve had this in the works and on our roadmap since last year. QF amplifies the impact of small contributions, making fund allocation fairer and more democratic. Community participation is important to us, and every vote and donation matters. With QF, we can ensure that everyone has a voice in funding decisions in Octant epoch rounds.

This week, we'd like to introduce you to Wlodzimierz Gogloza, Octant's Head of Communications! ✨ ⭐ Włodek, what do you do at Octant? I used to be responsible for public outreach. Right now, I’m mostly involved in internal communications, making sure that different teams working on Octant are well aligned and on track to deliver some exciting new upgrades to the app. You'll still see me giving presentations at conferences or meetups from time to time, and I occasionally write for our website and social media channels, though. ⭐ What’s your favourite thing about what we’re building? The long-term sustainability of our funding model. Octant is financed through a 100,000 ETH stake. We operate over 3,100 validators, helping secure the Ethereum network and using the returns to financially empower our community and fund high-impact public goods projects in web3 and beyond. It's a win-win-win scenario: the network benefits, our community thrives, and we have and we have a reliable source of funding for essential non-profit projects. ⭐ What’s the best thing you’ve read/watched recently? I've been on a Dan Simmons kick lately. After several attempts, I finally got hooked on his classic sci-fi series, Hyperion, and have since devoured several of his other novels across different genres. He's an incredibly versatile author who's found success in horror, historical fiction, hardboiled crime, and even highbrow literary fiction. I'm currently absorbed in The Terror, a fictionalized account of Captain John Franklin's lost Arctic expedition from 1840s. It's a chilling horror story where the cold, darkness, sickness, and hunger are far more terrifying than any supernatural monster. On the non-fiction side, two recent favorites: "Children of Ash and Elm: A History of the Vikings" by Neil Price: This book offers an excellent overview of current academic research on the Vikings. It's a subject I'm well-versed in from my previous academic life, and I still learned a lot. "I Am Dynamite! A Life of Nietzsche" by Sue Prideaux: An informative and entertaining biography of the often misunderstood philosopher. ⭐ What are you currently listening to on repeat? I'm lucky to have many talented friends who play in bands, run record labels, organize gigs, and edit zines, so I’m constantly exposed to new music. Therefore, I rarely listen to just one record, much less a song, on repeat. However, there are some genres I gravitate toward at various times and on different occasions. When working, I mostly listen to instrumental music—jazz, electronic, and drone. A recent favorite that blends these genres is Hinode Tapes' "Kiki Mori" LP on Instant Classic Records (their whole catalog is worth checking out!). When not at work, I blast noise rock, hardcore punk, and industrial records by underground artists that are probably way too obscure to mention on LinkedIn. 😉

This week, we'd like to introduce you to Marta Brewer, Octant's Commucations Officer! ✨ ⭐ Marta, what do you do at Octant? At Octant, I help with our comms. I’ve written posts for our blog, done interviews with people who work in the space and taken care of our socials (I’m the one posting here on LinkedIn, hi!). I love that this means collaborating with the whole team. I also get to explore and experiment with the ways in which we communicate what’s important to us as a project. Creative freedom is something that’s very much alive at Octant. ⭐ What’s your favourite thing about what we’re building? I think it’s the fact that we’re creating a place where great ideas can flourish. There’s nothing better than the satisfaction you get when you know you’ve been able to play even the smallest part in the journey of something that’s making the world better. ⭐ What’s the best thing you’re read/watched recently? I recently read the essay by British mathematician G. H. Hardy called “A Mathematician’s Apology”. It offers an insight into the mind of a very interesting human and shines a light on the beauty of mathematics. I think it’s quite moving in a way. ⭐ What are you currently listening to on repeat? I’m completely and utterly obsessed with Maruja’s new EP called “Connla’s Well”. It’s an incredible concoction of punk, harsh noise, with strong jazz influences. Also, this Jazz Jamboree performance commemorating Krzysztof Komeda from 1994 is something I’ve been listening to while working and studying - https://lnkd.in/dNKaQDWY.
