Thanks to YPSAT, which was on board the first Ariane 6 rocket, we have this wonderful shot of the separation of the payload fairing, made by Beyond Gravity in Emmen, Switzerland. YPSAT stands for European Space Agency - ESA Young Professionals Satellite and provides the first images of the key phases of the flight. Impressive images from space and so cool to see our own products in action. 😍 🚀 ❤️

We are excited to announce the publication of our first #SustainabilityReport and our #NetZeroRoadmap, detailing our commitment to achieving a net zero footprint within our own operations by 2026 🍃 In 2023, our total annual greenhouse gas emissions were approximately 69’860 tons of CO2-eq, with the majority originating from our value chain. Emissions from our direct operations and purchased energy were about 1'239 tCO2-eq. Over the next three years, we will focus on reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, which are directly under our control. As part of our journey to net zero by 2026, we are also striving to reduce Scope 3 emissions through pilot project such as the new headquarters at Zurich Airport's "Circle" (primarily accessible by public transport) and supplier engagement to reduce carbon emissions within the Lithography division. André Wall, CEO Beyond Gravity says: “We aim to harness the power of space technology to address humanity's most pressing challenges. We strive to protect the Earth's environment, promote international cooperation and enable sustainable development to ensure a harmonious and secure future for all." 🌍 Check out our reports: 📄 Sustainability Report https://lnkd.in/eyTsQ-y7 📊 Roadmap to Net Zero https://lnkd.in/eTce2ms6 More about #ESG at Beyond Gravity: https://lnkd.in/eKv4aNfk

Ariane 6 will power Europe into space. Ariane 6 will make history. Standing next to the massive #Ariane6 is indescribable. I feel a wide-range of emotions as we get ready to make an impact on European history, for Europe's future, for generations of Europeans. This is just the first step, we have lots of work to do yet, but we are laser-focused on changing the future of the European space transportation ecosystem.

For Europe's new rocket Ariane 6 🚀 we supplied the Cardan gimbal mechanism for the upper stage of the Ariane 6 rocket. The mechanism serves as a joint for aligning the engine in the thrust vector control of the rocket's upper stage. The mechanism weighs just ten kilograms. It has to transmit the thrust forces of 15 tons (comparable to the power of a diesel locomotive). It also needs to function flawlessly in the large temperature gradient (200 degrees Celsius) between the cold liquid gas propellant tank and the hot combustion chamber. Ariane 6 is Europe’s new heavy lift launch vehicle replacing its predecessor Ariane 5. The Ariane 6 rocket has a reignitable upper stage allowing it to launch multiple missions on different orbits on a single flight. Soon the new European launcher 🚀 Ariane 6 will fly into space for the first time. The launch will take place from the European spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana 🌴 (South America). We supplied high-temperature insulation consisting of glass and ceramic fabric for the main stage (lower stage) of the Ariane 6 launch vehicle. On the journey from Earth to space, the rocket engines have to withstand extreme heat of up to 1,500 degrees Celsius for several minutes. This is a temperature at which iron begins to melt. We also supplied high-temperature insulation for the upper stage of the Ariane 6 launcher. The insulation will be used in the vicinity of the re-ignitable Vinci engine.
