Catholic Charities New York Rings Opening Bell at the New York Stock Exchange 2024

Today, Catholic Charities New York held a special breakfast with keynote speaker Jan Hatzius, Chief Economist for Goldman Sachs, and rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). This special event was hosted by Lynn Martin, President, NYSE Group and Co-Chaired by CCNY trustees Brian Ruane, Executive Committee Member, Bank of New York Mellon and John Mahoney, Global Banking & Markets Director, Goldman Sachs. Catherine Kinney, Catholic Charities trustee, and retired President and CO-COO, NYSE Euronext welcomed 100 guests and supporters from the financial community who gathered to celebrate Catholic Charities New York’s mission providing help and creating hope for our most vulnerable New Yorkers.  Monsignor Kevin Sullivan, our Executive Director, thanked the many supporters from the business and finance community for their generous support of our mission. His Eminence Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan noted the importance of partnerships, said that “we can’t do this by ourselves” and expressed gratitude to our many partners, including those in business and finance, before leading the group down to the podium to ring the bell and begin a new day of trading.

As we enter our Second Century of support, Catholic Charities New York is focused on stabilizing housing for lower income New Yorkers in need, building new affordable housing for families and those with special needs, providing nutritious supplemental food, supporting those with mental illnesses, supporting and integrating immigrants and refugees and responding to community emergencies and disasters.
