Our five-step interview process

To ensure fairness and consistency, we have a standardized interview process for all of our roles.

Recruiter screening

In this conversation, our recruiters will dive in to learn more about you, your background, and what you’re looking for in your next role. Additionally, we will share more details about the role and answer any of your questions, while also going through standard recruiting questions.

Hiring-manager screening

When you meet with the hiring manager, they will discuss the technical aspects of the role you are interviewing for, evaluate your abilities and experience, and focus on clarifying any of your questions related to the team, culture, and expectations of the role.

If you are interviewing for a technical role for teams such as engineering, you will receive a technical screening or a take-home assessment in place of this hiring-manager screening.

Panel interview

Our panel interviews consist of a series of curated interviewers who have been given clear and intentional topics for discussion. They will be diving deeper into your thought process, solutions, and how to approach real-life situations you can come across at Coursera.

For teams such as design, engineering, and data science, you will receive complete guidance on what type of questions to expect from each interviewer. For product and management roles, we may include an additional panel session with the VP of the team. Your recruiter will share these details with you if it is related to your interview process.

Decision to hire

Your interview panel, hiring manager, and recruiter will meet to discuss your interviews and qualifications for the role. Based on the feedback, which we ensure does not include biases, the hiring manager will come to a decision.

Offer

When all the factors of your offer have been discussed internally, your recruiter will reach out with an offer! In this discussion, your recruiter will go over the details of your offer, benefits at Coursera, and answer any questions you may have about the offer and opportunity to join Team Coursera.
