Promoting DEI initiatives
Building a more diverse company powers our ability to deliver on the mission of Coursera. It fuels the performance and innovation we need to provide universal access to world-class learning, and it inspires collaboration to help us create equality alongside our government, university, and industry partners.
Our DEI initiatives and programs strengthen our workplace culture as we continue investing in ways to enhance workplace diversity, promote cross-cultural learning, and advance our ongoing efforts to build a company where everyone can thrive. At Coursera, we are increasing our diversity and developing processes, practices, and systems to ensure that every Courserian feels comfortable being themselves, and knows that they are valued for who they are and for what they bring to our mission. We consistently review our policies, processes, and practices for opportunities to meet the unique needs of Courserians and remove barriers that hinder their ability to fully support the mission.
Employee Resource Groups
At the center of our impact, our voices are amplified through our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). ERGs cultivate a positive and engaging culture in which Courserians of different backgrounds, lifestyles, and abilities are respected and thrive.
Our ERGs follow the 4Cs:
Culture: promoting awareness and understanding of varied social and cultural perspectives.
Career: advancing ERG members' professional growth and skill development.
Community: bringing Courserians together and strengthening ties with local and global communities through active outreach.
Commerce: boosting business value and innovation with additive insights and perspectives.
All employees are welcome to join these groups to build community and support one another.
Queersera supports the LGBTQ+ community and organizes social events, volunteer opportunities, and content initiatives to promote inclusion at Coursera and on our platform.
BOLD’s mission is to support people of African, Black, and Caribbean descent and advocate for awareness, opportunity, and innovations that promote positive change for these communities and their allies.
Military Community champions advocacy and support for active military members, veterans, and family members of military personnel.
Parents nurtures a supportive environment where our members thrive at work while embracing parenthood. They promote policies and share resources to build community among parents and non-parents.
Mental Health Allies (MHA) was founded to support Courserians on their unique wellness journeys and work to normalize conversations about mental health. They strive to empower individuals with information and resources to expand their wellness toolkits and effectively manage their physical, emotional, and mental health.
Green Team seeks to improve the environmental well-being of our communities and optimize Coursera’s internal sustainability processes. They aim to foster eco-conscious habits in the workplace, at home, and within the greater communities.
HOLA’s mission is to foster a sense of familia at Coursera, empowering members to share their culture openly and to use our community to aid in professional development. They promote the values of the Latino/Latina/LatinX community.
Women@ creates an environment where women thrive—one that attracts, develops, and retains top women talent, especially in areas where women are underrepresented.
Asian Identities (AI) aims to provide Asian and Pacific Islander talent with professional development, community outreach, cultural enrichment, and holistic growth opportunities.

Whether it's a history-month celebration, a skill-development session, networking, or shared-experiences event, these gatherings have proven to be a powerful tool for us to bridge the gap of a global company.
