This is a fully remote based role, however candidates must be located in the Toronto, Canada metro area. Note: this is a long-term Independent Contractor position.


Summary

BriteCore is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to develop the underlying systems of our enterprise platform. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead and execute projects to deliver a world-class SaaS offering on AWS infrastructure. This position is ideal for someone with demonstrable success operating/improving brownfield cloud platform solutions, a self-driven attitude for improving the tools/systems they work with regularly, and clear priority on supporting customers through excellent communication and elegant technological solutions . What you’ll do

  • Provide AWS Cloud Services expertise to BriteCore through consultation and documentation to support compliance and development
  • Design, develop, test, document, and support BriteCore DevOps tooling including but not limited to: internal deployment application, patch management systems, configuration management systems, observability systems, access systems, and operations automations
  • Design, develop, test, document, and support cost effective AWS solutions that provide BriteCore’s product to end customers in a highly available, performant, and observable way
  • Develop and support reusable/scalable GitHub actions modules to enable CI/CD best practices such as static code analysis, code testing, and release to dedicated dev environment
  • Develop and support Terraform modules for specific internal customer driven solutions as well as reusable cloud team driven modules that are used by many internal customers
  • Monitor the health and performance of our production systems via AWS and DataDog to efficiently and effectively resolve any urgent issues as well as continuously improve them as opportunities arise


What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience with Ubuntu Linux and Python
  • 5+ years of experience operating an AWS Cloud DevOps platform for a B2B SaaS org
  • 2+ years of experience with design, implementation, and support of containerized monolithic application running on EC2 or similar platforms
  • 2+ years experience with design, implementation, and support of automation using a commercial off the shelf automation platform such as SaltProject, Ansible, or Chef
  • Deep understanding of network architecture specifically on the AWS Cloud to design, implement, and support a highly available SaaS product
  • Ability to implement development/deployment/monitoring workflows and processes through the automated frameworks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Scrappy, determined, and energetic attitude, comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment and learning as you go


Bonus points

  • Experience working at a startup company
  • Working knowledge of disaster recovery, high availability and other technologies and principles that support business continuity; experience with DR capabilities in cloud environments
  • Able to produce and review existing system documentation for owned system
