How can you avoid distractions while working from home?
Sometimes, too, distractions simply cannot be avoided. I've been working from open space office settings and then home for many years now, and I found that my focus has improved over time. I used to have to use earplugs or play music in my earphones to block out the noise (especially in an open office!). Now, I'm able to fully tune out from what happens around me and focus on my work.

What are the most effective ways to manage internal stakeholder relationships in a sustainability career?
Crucial to knowing your audience is understanding what opinions you share and where you disagree. Approaching your audience with a point you can both agree on or are both passionate about is a great way to start a conversation. Once the common ground is well established, it will be easier to address other, more contentious issues. Be also prepared to agree to disagree. Honesty and truthfulness are essential ingredients here.

Translators for Children is a nonprofit organization based in Italy that provides free, high-quality, certified translations of medical records for children who are unable to receive adequate treatment in their home country and need to travel abroad to seek appropriate medical attention.
As the organization decided to establish itself internationally and expand its operations beyond its current scope, I worked with the Board of Directors and the President to:
- research the…Translators for Children is a nonprofit organization based in Italy that provides free, high-quality, certified translations of medical records for children who are unable to receive adequate treatment in their home country and need to travel abroad to seek appropriate medical attention.
As the organization decided to establish itself internationally and expand its operations beyond its current scope, I worked with the Board of Directors and the President to:
- research the possibility to expand operations into other countries and jurisdictions
- advise on an international management structure, including roles and responsibilities of the Board and of the organization's officers
- develop an international branding strategy and forge a partnership with a leading branding company to support the implementation of the branding strategy
- advise on aspects of communication, media outreach and fundraising
- develop the blueprint for a website and app to (1) streamline the process of requesting medical translations and managing the translation of highly confidential medical records; (2) create a community of families who are being displaced to foreign countries to seek medical care; and (3) give access to a range of other social services such as administrative support, schooling and remote video-interpretation for the children and their families
