“Hugh is a multifaceted individual/professional and personifies the sterling qualities of a true leader; heart, passion, people-focused, vision, inspiration, authenticity and dependability…to mention just a few. With Hugh, what you see is what you get!!! He has a knack for connecting deeply and in very special ways with people - truly having their best interests at heart. As a Social Justice Advocate, Hugh is at the forefront of the fight for social justice and reform - actively and passionately driving change in Canada, leveraging his unique position as the conscience of corporate Canada, speaking up for those silent voices that are unheard and advocating for the under-served in our communities. Hugh always inspires me to be a better version of myself, as he demonstrates in action what it means to "pay it forward" and give back to immigrant groups/communities. As a mentor, coach and Board Advisory member, he dedicates countless hours through charitable organizations to educate, encourage, inspire and empower current and future generations of foreign trained professionals immigrating to Canada. In concluding, Hugh is an absolute joy to hang out with. He has a great personality and an effervescent/contagious positive energy/aura that infects and influences people around him (...in a good way).”

Black Canadians are more likely to be unemployed, and to experience discrimination in job search. They are less likely to believe post-secondary education is attainable, earn less on average then their counterparts, and have less access and support at the start of (and throughout) their career. The problem is systemic, and it runs deep.

This should put us ahead of our competition, but we fall behind in donor support. With strong donor support we can grow our programs to recruit aggressively with maximum scholarship support; offer players attractive facilities; benefit from more full-time coaches and coaching support; use-cutting edge technology to improve performance; help student-athletes secure part-time employment; offer dedicated athletic therapy and meals after practice.
We believe our athletes deserve the same support as athletes at other schools.
