Prior to my involvement at the club level I had the great honour and privilege to gain steadily increasing levels of achievement as a referee in rugby, culminating with 5 years spent on the National Panel of Rugby Canada, one of the top 8 referees in the country.
I had the opportunity to referee a couple of junior internationals as well as RCSL matches across the country and one of my particularly proud moments as the 4th official for Wales against Canada in Toronto in 2005. -I'm Welsh. I love rugby. I was an awful player so that set me up nicely to referee the game, (those who can't, referee) and was quite fortunate to have got as far as the Rugby Canada National Panel and one of the top 8 referees in the country. The game afforded me the opportunity to see some great rugby from the best seat in the house and to travel across Canada and internationally to do so. An absolutely fantastic privilege.
