Redundancy plans are crucial for ensuring business continuity and minimizing the impact of disruptions. From network protocols to regular maintenance, you can protect your business with a few key steps: 1. Create detailed network diagrams for each layer (Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3). Identify how individual links or equipment failures affect connectivity, VLANs, and default gateways in your network topology. 2. Implement network redundancy protocols including a link aggregation control protocol (LACP) at Layers 1 and 2 that provides link redundancy. 3. While redundancy improves reliability, excessive complexity can lead to human errors and software bugs. Be sure to design with redundancy in mind but maintain clarity. 4. Use performance metrics to check system health with automated alerts for outages or latency issues. 5. Keep systems updated to prevent vulnerabilities using real-time data analysis. Remember, redundancy ensures data keeps flowing even during failures, enhancing reliability and minimizing downtime. #BackupSolutions #BusinessContinuity #BusinessInternet

Choosing an Internet service provider for your business takes time. You want to make sure you get the best, most reliable service, that won't leave you hanging. With all the options in the market to choose from, there are some key factors that will narrow the choices right away. 1. Availability - which company has coverage in your area? Not all ISPs have all products available in all locations - especially in rural areas. Finding out what products are available at your address can be as easy as asking your neighbours who they use or recommend. 2. Speed & Bandwidth - what speeds does your business need? Although faster speeds are often thought to be better, make sure to consider both download and upload speeds. Often, businesses don't need the fastest speed, but symmetrical speeds to operate. 3. Choice of product - with different platforms available to supply your Internet connection, which can provide the service you need? From satellite to DSL to wireless and fibre, there are pros and cons to of them. Once you've reviewed these three factors, your process of selecting the best Internet for your business will start being narrowed down. For businesses, there are many factors that should be considered which makes it different than a residential service. Occasionally used interchangeably, there are key differences between routers and switches when it comes to networking. A router connects different networks (e.g., LANs, MANs, WANs) and manages traffic between them. It operates at the network layer (Layer 3) and handles IP addresses. A switch on the other hand, connects devices within the same network (e.g., computers, printers) and directs data to specific devices. It operates at the data link layer (Layer 2)and uses MAC addresses. Working within the same network, a switch forwards data only to the intended device while reducing unnecessary traffic. The router, determines the optimal path based on IP addresses and routes data packets between networks. An easy way to remember is routers handle inter-network communications, while switches manage intra-network communications. #FAQFriday #TechTalk #BusinessInternet

IoT and AI have been labeled as the most disruptive and transformative technologies of our time. They offer significant opportunities and benefits for industries including agriculture, mining, and energy. But where these industries operate, connectivity can be limited. Edge computing can help to overcome these challenges and limitations by enabling and empowering AI at the edge, where IoT devices can run AI models locally without relying on the cloud or the Internet. This can help improve IoT devices’ performance, reliability, and autonomy and enable real-time and predictive IoT applications. Learn more on how edge computing can be used in the resource industry and how it can create value and impact the environment. https://lnkd.in/eWpmVFrC
