Western Law reposted this
For the past four years, I had the privilege of acting for an athlete in the Saadi/Gymnastics Canada #safesport case. It finally concluded last week with an #SDRCC appeal decision maintaining the lifetime ban awarded by the internal discipline panel for major maltreatment. Notably, a precedent-setting decision available to the public to protect and help others with their cases. #sportslaw #olympics Thank you to my co-counsel, Dr. Emir Crowne, and the law students who assisted along the way: Tyler Matthews, Brittany G. Bates, Rheanna Geisel, Laura Wade, Hannah Herrington, Dylan Romero-Marshall and Liv Hart. Cc. CBC, AthletesCAN and Western Law
My colleague Amanda Fowler discusses Elvira Saadi's precedent-setting lifetime ban from coaching gymnasts. We were privileged to act for Complainant B at the SDRCC on a pro bono basis to ensure her voice was heard. #safesport
