Vale Base Metals had the honour of hosting Deputy Governor Amakawa Kazuhiko and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) team at our Salobo and Sossego mines in Para, Brazil. Together, we continue to build our strong partnership for mutual investment in the energy transition sector.   During their visit, the group witnessed our world-leading automated mining operations, including driverless trucks in an iron ore mine – a groundbreaking initiative that sets a target for automation across all mines by 2030.  Thank you to JBIC for taking the time to join us. We look forward to bringing many opportunities to life together.  #TransformTogether

Sossego turns 20!!🎉 On July 2nd, our Sossego Mine in Brazil celebrated its 20th anniversary! When it first came into operation in 2004, Sossego marked Vale's entry into the global copper market, helping to transform it into one of the largest diversified mining operations in the world. The mine quickly became a major contributor to the development of Canaã dos Carajás, a nearby city of nearly 80,000 people in the state of Pará in Brazil Today, Sossego is an integral part of Vale Base Metals - a significant producer that will help turn our vision to become the world's leading energy transition metals company into a reality. To commemorate this very special occasion, celebrations will be taking place at Sossego throughout the month, including a special lunch enjoyed by our team on Tuesday! Happy birthday, Sossego!! 🎂 #SossegoMine #WeAreValeBaseMetals #TransformTogether

#DidYouKnow: June is Indigenous History Month in Canada? In honour of Indigenous History Month, members of the Sudbury Operations Indigenous Employee Advisory Council and Vale Base Metals employees gathered together last week for the annual planting of the Residential School Memorial Garden at our North Atlantic Operations Centre in Sudbury. The Residential School Memorial Garden was designed and developed in consultation with the Sudbury Operations Indigenous Employees Advisory Council in 2021. Its unique design features a turtle, indicative of Turtle Island, which is the name that many Indigenous Peoples use to refer to North America and/or Canada. The garden itself is planted with shrubs and perennials carefully selected for their healing, medicinal and traditional properties and are planted according to the colours of the medicine wheel. The garden is a small yet important step forward in our journey towards Truth and Reconciliation and in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission calls to action for the business sector to help address the ongoing impact of residential schools on survivors and their families. The garden also provides our employees and the community with a quiet place to reflect and contemplate those it honours- throughout Indigenous History Month, and all year round. #WeAreValeBaseMetals #TransformTogether
