“Russia strikes Ukraine’s energy infrastructure with 99 drones, missiles” Seeing this headline this morning, It was quite a joy participating in an event organized by the University of Calgary Centre for Military, Security and Strategic studies. The topic was on: “Cyber (in)security and national (in)security: persistent threats and Canada’s response” presented by Dr Michael Nesbitt an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Law, and a Fellow with the Centre for Military, Security and Strategic Studies. You might ask why a Doctor in Law is speaking on Cybersecurity, but given my over 7 years in the Energy and Power Industries as well as my specialization driving adoption in Industrial Internet of things IIOT. I have come to learn that one must not only study and think deeply in terms of the technology and tools but also widely in terms of the legal ramifications, cross-border international security and defense agencies and the grey areas of vulnerability testing. Our energy grid still seem to be decades behind given the advancement of cloud and now the AI boom but they remain critical infrastructure and must be priority for safety of human lives and property given the times we live in. Thank you to the organizers for enriching conversations. Thank you to the The Military Museums for being a great host. #cybersecurity #defense #energygrid #iiot #security

On April 1st, we celebrated the Royal Canadian Air Force 100th Anniversary at The Military Museums (our close friends) in Calgary! I was truly honoured to meet and thank so many brave, current and past Air Force personnel, for their unwavering service to Canada. Lest We Forget, those who gave their lives for our freedom that we enjoy today. Wonderful to see Mayor and Council and many other senior government officials, acknowledge and officially proclaim today as Air Force Day in front of City Hall. 👏 The weather with spectacular blue skies was ideal for the outside ceremony and a fly past ✈️ John G Alho, MBA, ICD.D Liam O'Connell,P.Eng.PMP #RCAF #RCAF100 #flight #alberta #yycattractions #calgary #museum #yyc #loveyyc #albertamuseums #museums #calgaryalberta #calgarybusiness #yycbusiness #lovemuseums #aviation #aircraft #aerospace

Attended a great lecture on John McCrae by Susan Raby-Dunne at the The Military Museums. Amazing insights into the man behind the poem In Flanders Fields. It was amazing to hear about the connection between McCrae and his horse Bonfire. I highly recommend picking up Susan's books! Thanks again Susan and to Rory Cory for hosting a great event. Rory's exhibit Blood Sweat and Tears is fantastic.

Our sincere appreciation goes to Dr. Tim Cook, CM, FRSC, Ph.D. for delivering the engaging presentation “Lifesavers and Body Snatchers” at The Military Museums last Friday, January 12. Even in the freezing weather, the event drew an impressive turnout of almost 80 attendees. We are truly thankful for everyone’s warm presence and active involvement, making the night a tremendous success. This event was made possible through the valued collaboration between Valour Canada and The Military Museums, featuring the Army Museum of Alberta. Our gratitude also extends to our corporate sponsors Plains Midstream Canada, Manteo, and Walrus Investments Ltd. More photos: https://lnkd.in/gYP79u2D
