As #CABSRT24 comes to a close, we take some time to reflect on the people who made it happen. Naina Purie and Wyatt Sengotta with the support of CABS VP Conferences Shahana Ali and President Kareem Brochu were the driving forces of the event. They, along with the helping hands of the Leadership Team and Program Team, ensured the seamless rollout of CABS’ flagship event in its 30th year. This event’s importance to incoming and outgoing teams cannot be understated - with 21 of CABS’ member schools making the trip out to Vancouver to share and learn about what makes our business schools special and how we can do even MORE for our students. Connection and community drive everything we do. It’s how our schools use their national network to make their Business Students’ Associations better, continuously raising the standard for student leadership. A special shoutout goes out to Hill Business Students' Society for exemplifying these values and taking home the prestigious BSA of the Year award! If you’re an outgoing executive, your journey with CABS doesn’t have to end here! This year's JDC Central competition has officially drawn to a close! To our Executive Directors Kareem Brochu and Ceiledh Monk: thank you for being the visionaries to make this event happen. To the Program Team Shahana Ali, Yarnie Shahparast, MAcc, Renee MacLeod, Samantha Gec, Alyssa Houde, Kevin Acquah, Vincenzo Milano, Leo Pharand, Ali Imran, Leandros Stamatakos, Madison Shearer, Aya Dergham, and Noor Gaya: thank you for your countless hours of dedication to JDCC. To the delegations Goodman JDCC, Sprott JDCC, Schwartz JDCC, JDCC Laurier, JDCC DeGroote, JDCC JMSB, JDCC Schulich, JDCC Lang, JDCC Bishops, and JDCC Telfer: thank you for your spirit, enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and effort over the weekend and the months of preparation leading up to it. This past weekend, I was fortunate enough to represent the Canadian Association of Business Students as the Corporate Relations Manager of the JDCC Planning Team, at the JDC Central case competition, hosted this year in Kingston, ON. Our team welcomed over 450 delegates, leaders, and faculty advisors to partake in one of the most intense, immersive, and amazing case competitions across Central Canada. We are extremely grateful to all the delegates who came out, we hope you all had a fantastic time this weekend! 🏆 Firstly, I would like to shoutout Kareem Brochu and Ceiledh Monk for stepping in as EDs in the final hour, and being the best leaders a team could ask for. Without both of your continued support, determination, and commitment, this weekend would not have even been possible. 👏🏽 Secondly, I would like to show love to Shahana Ali and Alyssa Houde for basically not sleeping the entire weekend to make sure the event ran smoothly! 🥳 Thirdly, I want to congratulate the dream team, Samantha Gec and Vincenzo Milano for being the best CR team I could ever asked for. You guys absolutely killed it, and we would not have been able to get as many sponsors as we did without both of your hard-work and efforts. It’s been an honor working alongside you both. 🫡 Lastly, I would like to congratulate all of PT on an amazing event. The entire team put in A LOT of time, energy, and determination to make sure the event ran smoothly. Hear ye, hear ye - we have an exciting new opportunity for our alumni and community to give back to business students this upcoming month. JDC Central is an annual business case competition that welcomes hundreds of delegates from schools across Eastern Canada to one central location for a weekend of rigorous competition, insightful presentations and debates, and camraderie. The JDCC Program Team is looking for judges to join us in Kingston, Ontario for the upcoming academic presentations in six competitive disciplines over two days. On Saturday, January 20th, we are looking for judges for Finance, Human Resources, and Business Strategy, and on Sunday, January 21st, we are looking for judges for International Businesss, Accounting, and Entrepreneurship.
