C'est avec plaisir que nous vous annonçons le programme des ambassadeurs de la SOCAN. Conçu pour accroître notre implication auprès de nos membres et favoriser les liens avec l’industrie, le programme des ambassadeurs offre à nos membres des ressources commerciales et créatives qui les aideront à naviguer dans l’industrie de la musique de manière efficace et efficiente.    Le coup d’envoi de ce programme a été donné avec la nomination de ses deux premiers ambassadeurs, le compositeur à l’image de renom Robert Kraft et Carleton Stone, finaliste pour le prix de l’Auteur-compositeur de l'année aux East Coast Music Awards 2024. We're pleased to announce the SOCAN Ambassador program. Designed to enhance member engagement and foster industry connections, the Ambassador Program equips members with valuable business and creative resources, further empowering them to navigate the music industry with effectiveness and efficiency. This ambassador program kicks off with the appointment of accomplished film composer Robert Kraft and 2024 ECMA Songwriter of the Year nominee, Carleton Stone, as SOCAN ambassadors. Kraft and Stone will leverage their extensive music industry expertise to strengthen SOCAN’s relationships with members on the East Coast and Los Angeles. La SOCAN accueille favorablement la décision du gouvernement fédéral d’augmenter le financement du Fonds de la musique du Canada   Au début de cette semaine, la ministre du Patrimoine canadien Pascale St-Onge St-Onge a annoncé le renouvellement et l’augmentation du soutien au Fonds de la musique du Canada afin de supporter l’industrie de la musique et les artistes canadiens. Au cours des deux prochaines années, le gouvernement du Canada fournira 32 millions $ afin de faire avancer les initiatives visant à améliorer la carrière des artistes canadiens et à renforcer la compétitivité et la stabilité de l’industrie canadienne de la musique.   Il s’agit de la première augmentation du fonds depuis 2019 et d’une étape essentielle pour soutenir la croissance continue de l’industrie et les besoins accrus qui s’y rattachent.    Nous reconnaissons l’impact profond de tels investissements pour favoriser un écosystème musical prospère et dynamique au Canada, ainsi que pour soutenir l’important travail d’organisations telles que la Canadian Independent Music Association(CIMA) et l’ADISQ - Association québécoise de l'industrie du disque, du spectacle et de la vidéo. Bien que cet investissement ne soit pas à la hauteur de la promesse faite par le gouvernement fédéral en 2021, c’est un pas dans la bonne direction pour solidifier l’industrie de la musique au Canada et il est le reflet de la reconnaissance de la contribution significative de la musique à la culture et à l’économie de notre pays.    Comme pour toutes les contributions du Fonds de la musique du Canada, la Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings (FACTOR) administrera cet investissement pour le marché anglophone et la Fondation Musicaction (Musicaction) pour le marché francophone. 

SOCAN welcomes the federal government’s recent move to increase the Canada Music Fund.   Earlier this week, Canadian Heritage Minister Pascale St-Onge announced a renewal and boost of support for the Canada Music Fund to support Canada’s music industry and artists. Over the next two years, the Government of Canada will provide $32 million to further initiatives aimed at enhancing Canadian artists’ careers and bolstering the competitiveness and stability of the Canadian music industry.   This marks the first increase to the fund since 2019 and a critical step in supporting the continued growth of the industry and associated demand on the fund.    We recognize the profound impact such investments have in fostering a thriving and vibrant music ecosystem in Canada, as well as in supporting the important work of organizations like Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) and ADISQ - Association québécoise de l'industrie du disque, du spectacle et de la vidéo. Though this investment falls short of what the federal government promised in 2021, it signals progress towards strengthening Canada’s music industry and recognizes music’s meaningful contribution to Canada’s culture and economy.     As with all Canada Music Fund Contributions, the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings FACTOR will administer this investment for the Anglophone market and the Fondation Musicaction (Musicaction) for the Francophone market.
