Since day one, the Ukrainian Red Cross has been delivering vital humanitarian assistance to people impacted by the conflict in #Ukraine.    On Monday, Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams immediately responded following a missile strike that damaged #Okhmatdyt Hospital Complex, a children’s medical facility.   The Ukrainian Red Cross, together with its partners, has announced they’re allocating funds that will be used to rebuild the Okhmatdyt Hospital Complex, ensure medical services for young patients, and to support those affected.

The Ukrainian Red Cross, together with its partners, is allocating UAH 40 million to restore the #Okhmatdyt Hospital Complex and calls on everyone to support the children's medical facility that was damaged by the missile strike on July 8. These funds will be used to rebuild the hospital complex, ensure access to medical services for young patients, and support the victims. The project is being implemented in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital, and the Centre for Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. For many years, the Ukrainian Red Cross has been a reliable partner of the Ohmatdyt Hospital in various areas: rebuilding the medical facility's premises, providing modern equipment and medical supplies, and supporting young patients and their parents. We urge everyone who cares to join this initiative so that children from across Ukraine can promptly receive treatment for conditions such as cancer, spinal cord injuries, and other serious diseases. Support young patients together with the Ukrainian Red Cross: https://lnkd.in/dwfhjsQv

They just want to go home. Children, caught up in the conflict in Gaza that has resulted in their families being uprooted 4, 5, or 6 times. Many won’t have homes to return to. Teams from the Palestine Red Crescent Society regularly engage with children to help them cope with their current reality. Volunteers and staff visit the tented camps and the neighbourhood near the International Committee of the Red Cross - ICRC Field Hospital in Rafah where they play games, read stories, and create artwork with the children. Some of that artwork now adorns the fence surrounding the field hospital. Thanks to generous donors and the Government of Canada (Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada), the Canadian Red Cross is able to support the field hospital with a variety of resources ranging from surgical equipment to medicines and health care personnel.

Having a child going through a serious illness can be overwhelming for a family. But now, a refreshed library at the Ronald McDonald House in Toronto (Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto) is helping to ease that hardship. The organization recently revamped its library using funds provided through the Community Services Recovery Fund, a one-time $400 million investment from the Government of Canada (Emploi et Développement social Canada (EDSC) / Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC)) to help strengthen the internal capacity of organizations across the country post-COVID-19 pandemic. To ensure the books on the shelves represent patients and their families, Ronald McDonald House Toronto engaged families in the book selection process. The result is a diverse array of almost 400 new books representing different cultures, groups, languages, and genres. At the recent grand re-opening of the library, many of those books were on display, along with books and bookmarks authored by the kids themselves! “Thanks so much to the Government of Canada and the Community Services Recovery Fund for providing us with the funds needed to revitalize our library so it’s more inclusive for our families, volunteers, and staff. We are so grateful for this amazing support.” @Dr Katie Doering, Ronald McDonald House Toronto School Principal. #RMHCToronto
