Have you heard the news? 📣 Episode 4 of the Micro Space Products implementation series is LIVE! Alex Berger and Payton Wheeler Berger wrapped up Work Order training and had an epiphany when they really understood the full ramification of how “Build-To-Inventory” Work Orders, and be used to schedule economic batch sizes across their machines. This will vastly simplify how they schedule their shop, and improve margins with fewer changeovers and bigger batch sizes. They were also recently trained on the scheduling module, and learned the difference between forward scheduling, backward scheduling, fixed date, and how each work center can be customized for their own unique use cases. Not all materials are priced the same and Vespel is a perfect example of this. This one rod of vespel costs about the same as all of the aluminum bars behind it! But do you know what is the same across all materials in our shop? The material cert labels! These are printed each time we receive material and contain the material type and specification, the PO and line number, and a QR code for that PO. When scanned, this QR code pulls up that PO in ProShop ERP for easy access and can then be linked to the current work order. This way if we have any excess material after a job, we can keep track of it and know exactly what type of material it is thanks to the material cert, order history, and everything else that is captured in the PO. All this to ensure each part is made to the exact material specifications our customers require! Hot off the press! 🔥 📰 Tom Rougeux, influenced by his father’s career in manufacturing, pursued a finance and economics degree before entering the engineering sector. His passion for owning a business led him and his wife, Sarah, to buy a South Carolina machine shop in September 2020, amidst the pandemic, establishing RX Industries.
