Last week, the OCC and the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business held our fourth Economic Reconciliation Roundtable on Supporting Indigenous Procurement opportunities. Key takeaways included: ✅ Building early relationships with Indigenous businesses is a necessary ingredient to the success of any collaborative effort between Indigenous and non-Indigenous businesses. ✅ Understanding Indigenous values and ensuring procurement opportunities will benefit Indigenous communities is imperative for the equitable inclusion of Indigenous suppliers in organizational procurement processes. ✅Facilitating an accessible and inclusive Request for Proposal process is crucial to enabling Indigenous businesses to participate in procurement opportunities. Companies should critically examine joint ventures to ensure Indigenous communities are meaningfully benefitting from procurement set-asides. We extend our gratitude to every participant for taking the time to contribute to our discussion, our esteemed partners for the invaluable support, and to Elder Greg for his impactful opening presentation that set the tone for a significant conversation to take place in a good way. Special thanks to Tea N Bannock for catering this meeting and sharing with us their delicious traditional Indigenous cuisine – a great reminder that we can all find opportunities to #BuyIndigenous. Systemic inequities persist for women as patients. The panel “Making Women’s Health a Top Priority,” at our #ConnexionsToHealthEquity Summit, hosted in partnership with Pfizer, will explore strategies to: • Improving access to critical reproductive health services; • Enhancing availability of contraceptives; • Expanding support for fertility treatments; • Providing comprehensive care for women going through menopause. We recognize that women’s health needs are diverse and complex. By addressing these key areas, we aim to spark meaningful change in how our healthcare system serves women. #AdvanceWomensHealth

The Ontario Summer Games are officially in full swing! 🏆 🏅 Sport represents a unifying force at a time of economic and social challenges. The opening ceremony was marked by an energy of enthusiasm, support, and pride. These young athletes have demonstrated commitment and excellence, and we wish them the very best throughout the course of the competition. I had the pleasure of connecting with Minister Neil Lumsden, Deputy Minister Keith Palmer, and the many businesses, volunteers, and supporters that make this event possible. A big thank you to Desjardins and a special thank you to Marilyn Horrick for inviting the Ontario Chamber of Commerce to be part of the opening ceremony and reception.

On Thursday, I met with Idit Shamir 🇮🇱🇨🇦 , Israel's smart and energetic Consul General in Toronto. We had a good dialogue about business-to-business cooperation and trade opportunities, particularly in sectors of common interest such as healthcare and life sciences, agriculture and food, and clean technologies. We also discussed how public policy can support a culture of entrepreneurship, productivity and innovation - a key focus for the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. We very much hope the months ahead bring peace and stability to Israel and its neighbours, and look forward to our continued dialogue and cooperation with this important Canadian ally and trade partner. #israel #ontario #chamberofcommerce #business
