    🧬 Multi-Omics + Bioinformatics, AI, Data & Computational Recruitment | 👩🔬 Founder @ Moxee | 🦋 T1 Diabetic |

I wish I could write about more Life Sciences job ads. But honestly... most of them look the same. Hiring managers are complaining to recruitment agencies that applicants "aren't quite right for their needs", despite the plethora of talent available. But, the ads themselves haven't changed much over time, despite roles in Life Sciences becoming waaaaaaay more specific. But then, Nomic Bio came to the rescue. Here's what I love about their ad: 👇 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗼𝗸: It starts with, "doing for proteins what Illumina has done for DNA." Obsessed. They know their audience, and they’re writing for them. 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: It details tasks like writing copy, running ads, and coordinating conferences. This gives a clear picture of what the job entails. No one likes "other duties as assigned." 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀: They talk about the challenges of joining a start-up, setting realistic expectations. Many small companies sugarcoat. Nomic’s ad builds trust by being honest about the work environment. 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆: The tone of the ad matches the company's personality perfectly. It’s also written in a way that’s accessible to anyone. 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗮𝗱𝗲: The ad tells their story, from McGill University to partnering with pharma giants like GSK. A good transformation sticks with you faaaar longer than a list of facts. 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘂𝘀 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲: They don’t bombard you with, “HERE ARE THE 27 THOUSAND THINGS WE NEED FROM YOU, OR ELSE. WITH ZERO INFORMATION IN RETURN.” 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: They speak directly to the reader with "you" statements. Makes you feel like the job is tailored just for you. "No ego: There’s a lot we wish we could do but don’t have time for." 👏👏 Check 'em out! A few new Software / Data Engineer openings this week!

✨ Thrilled to announce our second speaker for our McGill DojoExplore seminar series, Milad Dagher, co-founder and CEO at Nomic Bio. He will be speaking this Thursday, February 8 from 6 - 7:30 pm on the seminar about spinout founders. Milad is the co-founder and CEO of Nomic Bio. Nomic is a bioengineering company working to make the human proteome as broadly and easily accessible as the genome. Nomic’s nELISA platform makes protein profiling maximally scalable, 10x more cost-efficient and inherently more flexible. Born out of Milad’s PhD research at McGill University, the nELISA is now utilized by over 40 pharmaceutical companies, which have collectively profiled over 300,000 samples using the platform. Nomic is backed by top-tier investors including Y-Combinator and Lux Capital. Milad received his PhD in Biological and Biomedical Engineering from McGill University, where he worked in David Juncker’s lab to overcome long-standing bottlenecks towards scaling the affinity proteomics. This work led to the co-invention and development of multiple foundational technologies that power the nELISA platform today. Prior to his transition into biological engineering, Milad was trained in nanotechnology and electrical engineering, receiving his M.A.Sc. from École Polytechnique de Montréal.
