About us
The Lifesaving Society - Canada's lifeguarding expert - is a full-service provider of programs, products and services designed to prevent drowning. We prevent drowning and water-related injury through our training programs, Water Smart® public education, aquatic safety management services, drowning research and lifesaving sport. We are a national, volunteer organization and registered charity composed of 10 provincial / territorial branches, tens of thousands of individual members, and over 4,000 affiliated swimming pools, waterfronts, schools and clubs. We are a leader and partner in the delivery of water safety education throughout Canada and around the world. The Lifesaving Society takes lead responsibility for drowning prevention in Canada. We have been teaching water safety and water rescue in Canada since 1896. The Lifesaving Society Ontario is governed by an elected volunteer Board of Directors with a Council of Officers and 8 activity centre councils composed of professionals in recreation, education, business, finance, management, and medical and legal professions. The Society's office staff provide support from the Society's headquarters at 400 Consumers Road in Toronto. The Lifesaving Society is a self-financing registered charity working to prevent drowning. When you purchase merchandise from us you support Water Smart® drowning prevention education which is funded exclusively by merchandise sales and donations.
