We are excited about the ITE events kicking off this weekend in Hamilton! LEA's Transportation group, including Kenneth Chan, Nixon Chan, M.A.Sc., P.Eng., PTOE, PMP, Christy Leung, MCIP, RPP, Shannel L., Jocelyn Wallen, P.Eng. and Kelsey Waugh, will join Canada's community of transportation professionals at the ITE Canada 2024 Annual Conference from June 9-12. On June 9, Kelsey will present at the ITE McMaster 2024 Student Leadership Summit, sharing valuable insights on leadership and networking for ITE students and young professionals. We are also proud to sponsor the Play Street event on June 10, where you can test your transportation knowledge and participate in an active transportation obstacle course. We partnered with our friends CS&P Architects Inc. to create a sculpture using 4,896 cans of food for Canstruction Toronto's Annual Design and Build Competition, in support of the Daily Bread Food Bank. This year, our Cansculpture titled "Just Keep Swimming" received the 2024 Best Original Design award! The larger-than-life can-structed fish illustrates how a single can of food can make a significant impact. It sheds light on the vital role food banks play in supporting those without access to adequate nutrition, showcasing their importance in our communities. If you happen to be in the Toronto area, stop by 222 Bay Street to see our creation. The Cansculptures will be on display until Friday, May 17. This new 6-storey, 9,500 m2 Mass Timber building, delivered through Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), is a testament to LEA's innovative and sustainable approach in providing structural engineering.   This achievement also stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and the IPD model. On Saturday, we were honoured to attend the grand opening of The Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough, ON. LEA Group provided structural engineering services for the building that features a beautiful Mass Timber entrance and administration space! We highly recommend making the trip to Peterborough this summer to check out the museum on their new waterside campus and their fantastic collection of over 600 canoes! Incredibly proud of our integrated team for the delivery of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Science Collaboration Centre - one of three buildings delivered through IPD that comprised the New Builds Project in Chalk River. LEA Group was fortunate to work closely alongside all of the team member firms including M. Next Monday, LEA is teaming up with CS&P Architects Inc. to fight hunger in our community by taking part in Canstruction Toronto's Annual Design and Build Competition. Our team will construct a sculpture entirely out of cans, all of which will be donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank. Stay tuned to see what we cook up!
