  • Worried that the technology you’re using to eliminate bias in hiring processes might be biased itself? It's true that bias in AI can exist. For example, AI models trained on biased historical data can inadvertently favor certain demographics over others. At Knockri, we don't train our models on historical hiring data, but rather seek to find objective demonstration of skills and behaviours relevant to the job.     “My disability is that I cannot use my legs. My handicap is your negative perception of that disability, and thus of me.” - Rick Hansen  This #NationalAccessAbilityWeek, I want to celebrate the person whose journey has been a source of profound inspiration for me. With a terrible speech impediment, my 14-year-old self would have never imagined building a successful tech company, and the deep impact going to a high school named after Rick Hansen would make.   The Man in Motion taught me about perceptions, bias, and perseverance long before I experienced them myself Stepping into the workforce, I continuously struggled to succeed not because I wasn’t good enough, but because managers did not have the patience to deal with my stutter.  I would often be cut short, my sentences completed for me, or left to deal with an interviewer who had zoned out.  Having a long ethnic name didn’t help my career growth either. There came a time when I didn’t even land job interviews simply because of my name.  Then I changed Jahanzaib to Jason for a few applications, and there it was! Not just an interview but a complete offer as well. Soon enough, I realized that my stutter was not the problem, nor was my name. The problem was people's perception of who I was or what I could (not) do based on those characteristics. Establishing Knockri, I only had one goal in mind:  ✨ Everyone should get a fair chance ✨ Using #ethicalAI and inclusive design methodologies, Knockri assesses candidates based on work relevant skills, tasks and behaviors and does not account for things like stutter, name, ethnicity, gender, accent, or disability. We've assessed north of half a million candidates and helped Fortune 500s hire and promote talent efficiently and equitably. A huge shoutout to Rick for being the first figurehead I looked up to as an #inclusivity and #accessibility champion For inspiring thousands of Jahanzaibs who wish to break barriers and imagine a society where everyone belongs Really great to meet the man himself and reinforce the importance of accessibility and inclusion in our mission at Knockri | Skills based Hiring & Promotions 🙌🏽
