  • Katherine, what is that picture...? 😅 That, my friends, is the "Impact Up Fund" proudly created by my stepson for our Playa Del Carmen ImpactUp event, organized and led by We Are For Good While it may seem like a simple and charming glass container, it represents much more. This little pot is a beacon for the future. -- 👉 One of the biggest factors in driving long-term change is how much the future generation cares about environmental, animal, and social issues. After all, children are the future of humanity. Involving youth in non-profit initiatives is a fantastic way to spark their curiosity and openness. By introducing them to important concepts early on, we can inspire them to learn how they can make a difference. 🤸 Children are like sponges, absorbing knowledge and experiences from their environment. It's crucial to make them feel valued in non-profit work so they can grow to love it as much as we do! Not only is this good for the planet, but from my observation, it is also incredible for youth to help them develop a sense of belonging and responsibility. It also can be incredibly gratifying for them! 🧠 From a very young age, Kade has been involved in many of my non-profit activities. He is brimming with creativity and constantly thinking about how the world works. When given the space and proper encouragement, it's amazing how much young people can contribute to your non-profit and to the world! 💭 What are your thoughts on the role of the youth in non-profit work? P.S. Did you know that family or early involvement in philanthropy is a key factor in future donor retention according to a recent study? Share what you are doing to involve the younger generation in your non-profit or let us know your best ideas so that we can all draw inspiration from you and help youth cultivate a true passion for the work we do! • 🌪️ Why does it take a hurricane warning for me to take a break? With hurricane Beryl fast approaching, instead of being scared or worried, I actually felt relieved. Crazy right? 😞 But the thing is: we will most likely lose power, and so, lose internet. Which means I won’t be able to work even if I wanted to. For once, I can actually disconnect guilt-free from my work and spend time with my family, even if in the middle of a storm. 👉 This made me realize that something was most seriously unhealthy about my current routine and I needed to find more balance in my life. If it takes a natural disaster for you to take a break, like ACTUALLY take a break, you might, like me, need a self-care check. Interested in learning about how you can make your workspace a little bit more ‘human-friendly’? 🔊 My most recent episode with Sarah Hoffman serves as a reminder of the little things we can do to get rid of the «dehumanizing» culture of work, and better take care of our employees' mental health (and ours!). Tune-in here: https://vist.ly/3cjvc P.S. I acknowledge my privilege in knowing I will be safe as I have a strong roof over my head and the capacity to protect myself and my family. I know many are not so lucky and I pray that everyone stays safe during this hurricane’s passage. Take care and stay safe everyone! 🫶 #hurricaneberyl #fundraising #nonprofits #nonprofitconsulting #philanthropy #JustBeCausePodcast

Birthdays are for resting... right? Today is my 34th birthday, which is still absolutely 🍌 to me. But what is more bananas is this little being who appeared in my life this week. Now, although I might be known to many as the "non-human philanthropy chick", I have never actually had a dog. Shocking, I know. Now, I have fostered many (8?) and watched and cared for many others, but my own puppers? A pup that I could build a bond with over many years? Never. I always told myself: I am not stable enough yet, I move around too much. Dogs are expensive, what if something happens and I can't cover the vet bills? I like traveling too much, it wouldn't be fair to them. It's a huge commitment, I'm not ready. But then, I was. I realized that, if I had the care of a dog, I would find solutions. I would make it work. No matter how much you plan and wait until it's just right... life will happen to you. Don't wait to do the things that make you happy. So Chaiko happened. I did not realize how much happiness and love I would feel until he fell asleep in my arms for the first time. How he already follows me everywhere (even into the shower -_-). How he trusts me. I vow to make sure to offer this pup the best life possible. I am ready 😍 As I often talk about on my podcast, animals have so much to teach us, that I often wonder who is caring for who. This is the best damn birthday gift I could ever ask for. Now, as Chaiko has been reminding me for my birthday: naps are necessary and cuddles are mandatory. So Happy birthday to me 🎂!

  • Are you spending more time managing meetings than doing impactful work?😅 This unfortunately happens to so many of us (myself included)! As our nonprofit grows, we often have to manage more, and it feels like we have less and less time to do what we love. Of course, it's part of the process! But you can reclaim some of your time using tools that reduce your management and admin time. It was a game-changer when I invested in a calendar manager last year to help schedule my meetings. If managing meetings with donors, volunteers, or partners gets overwhelming, a tool like TidyCal can probably help you too! TidyCal is super straightforward to use! You can set up different meeting types, sync them with your calendar, and even handle automatic follow-up emails. It’s cut down a lot of back-and-forth emails for me. Right now, it’s also at a very affordable promo price of $30 for lifetime access, so if you have a VERY limited budget, you still have no excuse! If you want to streamline scheduling your meetings, I’d encourage you to check it out now: https://vist.ly/39dhn Whether you’re setting up a board meeting, a donor call, or a volunteer session, TidyCal makes it easy. It’s been a big help for me, and I thought it might be for you too. (p.s: YES this is an affiliate link, but the current promo is super valuable, so I'm sharing it because I think it's a good opportunity!) #nonprofitimpact #fundraising #nonprofits #nonprofitconsulting #socialgood #changemakers #philanthropy #communityimpact #tidycal
