🌟 Last week's Startupfest in #Montreal was an incredible event filled with inspiring discussions, innovative ideas, and valuable networking opportunities. Here's a glimpse of what we were up to: 🚀 Our team kicked off the week with Pascale Archambault judging the Startup Showcases, where we witnessed some amazing pitches from emerging startups, showcasing the future of innovation. 🤖 Magaly Charbonneau participated in a thought-provoking panel on the Business of Truth, exploring AI's growing influence on information, the concept of truth versus trust, and the critical role of due diligence in navigating these challenges. The discussion delved into AI's power over information, its impact on society, and businesses being on the right side of history. 🎉 The VC Social was a highlight, welcoming over 400 guests from the Quebec, Canadian, and North American investment communities. A huge thank you to the Espace CDPQ team and to our co-hosts Accelia Capital, AQC Capital, BKR Capital, Brightspark Ventures, StandUp Ventures, Two Small Fish Ventures, and White Star Capital. 💡 Marianne Dubois and Claire Glossop Irani delivered impactful talks at the LPFest. Claire and co-panelist Julia from HarbourVest Partners emphasized venture as an asset class that outperforms public markets over the medium to long term. They highlighted how venture investment is driven by the innovation cycle rather than the business cycle, and discussed the importance of manager selection and tailored asset allocation. Venture, they shared, can complement buyout exposure and reduce the risk profile of a portfolio. 🔥 Finally, Chris Arsenault participated in a dynamic fireside chat during GPFest breakfast, sharing his insights on venture capital and the future of the industry, sparking engaging conversations about the evolving landscape.
