A battery-grade manganese development company aiming to supply the rapidly growing electric vehicle market
About us
Giyani Metals Corp. (EMM:TSXV) is a well-funded high purity battery grade manganese (HPMSM) development company with projects in Botswana, Africa. Giyani has this year finalized a US$26 million funding package with two strategic institutions (ARCH and the IDC) enabling the Company to get to Final Investment Decision in H1 2025. The Company is developing a Demonstration Plant for battery grade manganese (HPMSM) and will be producing product for offtaker testing and qualification in H2 of 2024. Concurrently the Company is in Final Feasibility with a Definitive study planned in the first half of 2025. Giyani has developed a unique hydrometallurgical process using ore from our K.Hill project in Botswana, which is a near-surface, high-purity deposit that has recently undergone a feasibility study, which demonstrated the project's potential to be one of the most significant and largest battery-grade manganese producers globally, as well as the significant expansion and optimization opportunities from our 1,960km2 licence holding in Botswana.

2024 is already showing positive #EV sales #growth with H1 2024 sales up 20% vs H1 2023. The Chinese market, which accounted for c.60% of EV sales in 2023, has grown 30% so far in 2024. #manganese #energytransition
7 million EVs have been sold in the first half of 2024! 🚗 The EV market (BEV & PHEV) has grown by 20% in H1 2024 vs H1 2023, resulting in global battery demand for Passenger Car & Light duty EVs reaching 340GWh so far in 2024! ⚡The Chinese market has grown by 30% YTD led by the rapid growth in PHEV sales. This is due to the rising number of models available alongside the growth in Range Extender EVs. BYD also recorded another PHEV sales record in June 2024. 🌍 The European market has grown by only 1% in H1 2024 vs H1 2023, with 1.5 million EVs sold. Results have been mixed in Europe, with Germany sales falling over the same period, but sales in France and the UK are up. 📈 The US market has grown by 9%, with most OEMs growing y-o-y. General Motors continue to ramp up production in Mexico with several EV models, producing almost 60,000 EVs in Mexico so far this year. 🌟 Will LFMP Batteries Transform E-Mobility? 🔋 Adding manganese to traditional LFP batteries is emerging as a key enabler for cost reductions, thanks to the increased energy density. Because LMFP operates at a higher voltage than LFP, its theoretical energy density can reach up to 230 Wh/kg, which is 15% to 20% greater than that of LFP batteries. 📊 At About:Energy, we have tested commercially available batteries containing up to 90% manganese, based on lab data collected at the start of this year! 🔬 We are engaging with next-generation chemistries to support the industry in understanding the complexities and value of these innovations, while mitigating development risks by reducing in-house research investments. ⚡ LFMP is just one of several advanced chemistries, including solid-state and sodium-ion, that we have explored in our pursuit of advancing battery technology.

CEO Danny Keating, Head of Corporate Development & Strategy Charles FitzRoy, and Group Process Engineer Justin Taylor were in the U.S. last week visiting battery makers and OEM's across the country. A general trend across all the meetings, and the overwhelming message from the majority of presentations at the Fastmarkets BRM conference that the team attended, is that OEMs are moving towards higher #manganese content in their #EV batteries. Whether it’s a near-term move from high-nickel NMC811 to lower-nickel content (higher-manganese content) #NMC622 or #NMC532 type chemistries, or a medium to longer-term move to developing #LMFP type chemistries which have greater energy density than existing LFP batteries and can contain from 50% to 80% manganese content! LFP market share was about 40% of the total EV battery market in 2023, and any large scale move from LFP type chemistries to LMFP could also lead to a dramatic increase in battery-grade manganese demand. Recent Research by Brendan Jephcott at Golden Dragon Capital Limited indicates the potential for LMFP demand to increase dramatically from 4 GWh capacity in 2023 to over 1,500 GWh in 2030. This would lead to a increase in demand from c.80kt p.a. in 2024 to c.2.6Mt p.a. in 2030. LMFP batteries contain more manganese than any other EV battery type, ranging from 50% to 80%. If a shift in LMFP adoption occurs, then there is potential for a larger uptick than forecast in battery-grade manganese demand. Please get in touch if you would like to know more about Giyani Metals Corp. or just to discuss all things manganese! #Energytransition #manganese
With its cost-effective advantage, LMFP cathode material is expected to gradually replace LFP cathode material and medium-nickel ternary cathode material in the EV power battery field. It is estimated that the market penetration rate of LMFP cathode material by 2025 will be between 5%~10%, and the LMFP battery demand will exceed 127GWh by 2025. Between 2026 and 2030, it is estimated that the market penetration rate of LMFP cathode material will be between 10%~30%, and the LMFP battery demand will exceed 1,584GWh by 2030. From 2024, supply is expected to increase from 80,000tpa up to 2.6Mtpa by 2030, accounting for a large position in the global cathode material market. https://lnkd.in/gdXFBYhA #lithium #manganese #phosphate
