This week we are taking you to Canada's first Shake Shack location! On June 13 Shake Shack opened their first Canadian location at Yonge and Dundas, 20 years after they opened their first location at a New York City park. The 135-seat, two-floor restaurant is located inside the former Adidas flagship store. All the famous menu items are available, including the all-beef smash burger, fried portobello burger stuffed with melted cheese, fried chicken sandwich, Vienna beef hot dogs, frozen custards cups, milkshakes and fries - crinkle cut to maximize its surface area and ensure the ridges can pick up as much cheese sauce as possible. Best Buy Canada and Bell Canada are partnering to launch 167 small-format consumer technology retail stores across Canada branded as Best Buy Express. The inaugural Best Buy Express store opened in Guildford Town Centre in Surrey, BC on June 26. This is what customers can expect at the new stores: Curated assortment of tech – In-store customers will have the opportunity to interact with some of the latest and greatest tech. Quick and easy pick up – Customers will be able to shop Best Buy’s full assortment online from small appliances to headphones and have the convenience of picking up and returning products at these locations. Exclusive telecom services – Customers will be able to shop Bell, Virgin Plus and Lucky Mobile telecommunications services. Geek Squad services – Best Buy Express stores will offer Geek Squad services including Protection and services for all consumer electronics products. Here at Field Agent Canada we do a TON of work in Foodservice and work with many of the largest (and smallest) players in the industry on Mystery Shops, Product Testing and Site Audits at restaurants across Canada. For today's Virtual Store Visit we are taking you to the latest Krispy Kreme location in Winnipeg, MB! On June 18 Krispy Kreme opened its first Winnipeg location at 465 Sterling Lyon Parkway. Customers lined up overnight to try the U.S. chain's famous glazed, sugared, and powdered doughnuts. The 4,600-square-foot store features a ‘theatre hub’ design, where guests can watch doughnuts go through the proofer, into the fryer and travel down the conveyor belt through ‘a waterfall of glaze,’ allowing customers to enjoy the pastries fresh off the line while still hot. https://lnkd.in/gnhNqX-q

One of Field Agent Canada's most popular reports on the Canadian grocery industry is back! The 2024 edition of the Canadian Fluid Milk report is the most comprehensive look at the prices Canadians pay for one of the most common items in the Grocery basket - 2% Milk. While inflation has cooled since our last look at milk prices across the country in 2023, grocery prices are still increasing year over year with the latest numbers from Statistics Canada showing price growth of 2.9% in May 2024. The strain on the average Canadian household is substantial and sticker shock is a common occurrence as shoppers navigate the grocery store. On May 1, 2024 the Canadian Dairy Commission implemented a farm gate milk price adjustment, representing an increase of 1.77%. This increase translates to $0.0153/litre. In late May, Field Agent Canada conducted price audits at 186 stores across Canada to see how this increase has cascaded out to the retail price of milk in 20 cities from coast-to-coast. Key Highlights - Changes Since March 2023: - Canadian milk prices increased in 19 out of 20 markets measured. - 4L Milk prices increased an average of 3% over the past year. - Comparative Prices at Walmart US stores are 28% cheaper than the average price in Canada. - The gap between cow's milk and milk alternatives (soy, almond, etc.) had narrowed from 10% in March 2023 to just 4.5% today. - Most expensive market for 4L milk was a tie between Charlottetown, PEI and Moncton, NB. - Least expensive market for 4L milk was Sudbury, ON. It seems like Prom / Grad season would be a big opportunity to create buzz and sales in stores for CPG companies selling energy drinks, chewing gum, smelly spray deodorants, nail polish and hairspray but so far our seasonal collection from Field Agent Canada and Shelfgram has only caught a few season specific displays that are more focussed on gifts and party supplies. High school kids have cash! It would be great to see a lot more displays and activations around this theme this time next year!
