Mapping Mondays: 3D Insights into Graphite Anodes Today's Mapping Monday post showcases how you can transform the Massbox's elemental maps into stunning 3D visuals. 📊✨ In our featured example, the Massbox meticulously analyzed five layers of a graphite anode, covering a substantial area of 1500 microns by 1500 microns using a precise 50-micron spot size. This detailed scan revealed intriguing metallic hot spots embedded within the carbon matrix. 🟢 Vanadium (V) is highlighted in green 🔴 Titanium (Ti) appears in red 🔵 Aluminum (Al) is marked in blue. These hot spots, ranging between 100-200 microns, likely represent contaminant metallic particles. Identifying and understanding the origins of these particles is crucial for battery manufacturers aiming to enhance product quality and performance. A huge shout-out to Mike Marsh and Luke Hunter for their expert assistance in bringing the Massbox data to life with Dragonfly. 🙌 #MappingMondays #Massbox #3DMapping #GraphiteAnode #BatteryTech #MaterialScience #ElementalMapping #Dragonfly #ExumInstruments

The average car has around 30,000 parts, each playing an essential role in keeping you moving.  Especially for metal alloy cast parts, X-ray plays an essential role in quality assurance, providing manufacturers a peek inside the structures within.    But what are they looking for? This stunning example of a segmented shock mounting provides a good indication. Dragonfly 3D World's advanced image processing features transform the raw data into actionable analysis results. We've used 3D World's automated porosity segmentation to dected internal pores and identify their orientation through their phi angle. A thickness mesh visualizes varying thicknesses along the part, unveiling the intricate details of this car part. Curious to know more? Have you ever wondered how we analyze porous materials?   If your work involves analyzing materials like sandstone or casted parts, Dragonfly 3D World offers powerful tools to analyze their structures. Standing out are its ablities to: Segment Porosity: Identifying empty spaces (porosities) within the material. Calculate Sphericity: Measuring how round or irregular these pores are, providing insights into their shape. Sparse Graph Visualization: Dragonfly can create visual networks of these pores, where each pore's characteristics are represented by color based on a chosen measurement like sphericity. Dragonfly 3D World is invaluable for researchers and engineers studying materials science, enabling detailed analysis and visualization of complex structures. Curious to know more?
