Don't Mess with the Don

Don’t Mess with the Don! (DMWTD) is an all-volunteer, Canadian-registered charity committed to the protection and enhancement of the Don Valley and Toronto’s ravines. Since its inception, this grassroots mobilization has removed over a quarter-million pounds of refuse from the area, as well as over 20,000 pounds of invasive plant species, countering the latter with elective and strategically located native plant gardens. Don’t Mess with the Don is comprised of thousands of dedicated volunteers, who serve the organization through five very active program areas: Clean up, Stewardship, Youth Trail Running, Mountain Biking, and Family Environmental Arts and Educational Programming. Each program is an opportunity to restore and connect with nature, enjoy the fellowship of community, and make an impactful contribution in the war against environmental desecration. The effort is also supported by a number of locally-headquartered corporations and an assortment of public agencies. All are happy, like DMWTD’s sizeable and growing volunteer base, to help Torontonians rediscover the beauty and value of its largest greenspace.
