It excels on extremely complex queries. While embedding approachs work well for easy data, like searching over Wikipedia for the capital of France, they fail miserably on complex data. Have you ever tried to embed JSON data, or tabular data? It's doomed to fail. Here Rerank excels. On FinanceBench, a QA dataset on annual reports created by finance MBAs and treasury analysts, Rerank works far better than any other approach: +18 points vs lexical search, +15 points vs embedding search. The usage is dead simple: Add one line of code, and get improved search results. This allows you also to supercharge existing search APIs, without the need to setup a dedicated vector database.
