EBC est fier d'annoncer qu'il a obtenu un mandat déterminant pour la construction de la toute nouvelle école secondaire Jacques-Leber à Saint-Constant, en Montérégie. Ce projet est le tout premier en mode conception-construction progressif de la Société québécoise des infrastructures (SQI). Ce mode de réalisation innovant implique une collaboration étroite dès le départ entre les concepteurs, les constructeurs et les autres parties prenantes du projet. Il vise à accélérer la réalisation des projets de construction en favorisant une compréhension commune des objectifs, des risques et des possibilités d'optimisation. Le consortium Second'Ère, composée d'EBC, Tisseur et de quatre firmes spécialisées, STGM Architecture, NFOE Inc., gbi et CIMA+, a été sélectionnée dans le cadre de ce premier appel de propositions de la SQI. Ce projet innovant permettra la construction d'une école moderne et durable qui répondra aux besoins des élèves et de la communauté. Les travaux ont débuté en avril dernier et les premiers élèves seront accueillis dès août 2026. Onze ans après la tragédie ferroviaire, un temps d’arrêt en toute simplicité aura lieu à Lac-Mégantic afin de rendre hommage aux disparus. De nombreux collègues et leurs proches ont été touchés par cet événement tragique. CIMA+ tient à exprimer son soutien envers les proches des 47 victimes ainsi que toute la communauté de la ville. On June 4, at the beginning of Pride month, we published on our internal website an interview with Heather Shaw, a member of CIMA+’s Marketing team in Western Canada. In the interview, Heather talked about what Pride means to her, her experiences at CIMA+ as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and allyship. Several people reached out to Heather after reading the interview to express their support to her and to share their own experiences at CIMA+. The interview also contributed to others at CIMA+ feeling that they are supported and welcomed where they work. To amplify the impact of Heather’s message and to help in the representation of 2SLGBTQIA+ people in the engineering community, we are publishing the interview externally and drawing the attention of CIMA+’s followers to it. We are saddened to announce that our dear colleague Kevin Kozar has passed away suddenly, on June 15th. Kevin recently joined CIMA+ with his team from Kozar Engineering Inc. In this short period of time, he developed strong relationships and showed us what a great business partner he was. Kevin was a well-known figure in Thunder Bay and a valued and respected leader. For us, he was a mentor, a colleague, a friend with a cheerful personality. He will be greatly missed. On behalf of CIMA+, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to his family and the people who have shared his journey.

Calgary experiences about 170 water main breaks annually but on the afternoon of June 5, 2024, it experienced a massive failure of a 49 year old, 11KM long main feeder pipe that supplies clean water to 1.2M people. The Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) acted quickly to ensure Calgarians were safe and get crews out to assess the situation. It can be difficult to comprehend how big the pipe that burst really is so the City of Calgary released this excellent graphic to give context. Aging infrastructure is a challenge for all cities.
