We are excited to present our blooming collaboration with Polliflora, coopérative de solidarité at our CGC Montreal plant! 🌸 This initiative creates a network of interconnected gardens in the Guybourg and Haig-Beauclerk neighbourhoods. Our 100m² garden, planted by Polliflora, contributes to a larger network of interlinked gardens in the Guybourg and Haig-Beauclerk neighbourhood, measuring 450 m²! We are excited to contribute to our ecosystem while sponsoring a garden for a local school, daycare, or non-profit. Assisting in making this project come to life, we also recognize the contributions of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, PME MTL Centre-Est, Ville de Montréal, SAQ and Port de Montreal / Port of Montréal. This initiative is all about enhancing biodiversity and promoting the presence of pollinators in the neighbourhood while supporting a healthy ecosystem. With the maintenance of this beautiful garden provided by Polliflora, we will surely see positive environmental impacts unfold. A round of applause is in order for our CGC Hagersville Mine Rescue Team, who managed to bring home some awards from the 2024 Southern District Mine Rescue Competition! 👏🎖️ Our Team consisted of CGC employees Josh Stringer, Scott Walton, Charles Heaslip, Ashlee Reitsma, Steve Wilkieson, Allen Barber, Thomas Smith, Peter Macvicar, Matt Peebles, and Paul Hunt. The competition, held from May 8-10, aims to standardize training across the province with various emergency scenarios, ensuring that miners are prepared and have the necessary emergency equipment available. ⛏️🦺 The dedication, preparation, and hard work from our team proved successful as we took home first place in the competition allowing them to compete in the provincial competition the week of June 3rd. At the Southern District Competition, our team was presented with individual awards for technician winner (Matt Peebles), briefing officer winner (Paul Hunt), and first aid winner (Charles Heaslip). On July 10th, CGC held its second annual Cowboy Corral, our flagship Calgary Stampede event. This was an opportunity for our fantastic Western Canadian customers, as well as government officials, non-profits, and community and business leaders to network and support a great cause. Thanks to the generosity of our customers and community partners, we held a silent auction with the The Home Depot Canada Foundation that raised $24,000 for the Trellis Society! Trellis Society offers parent and caregiver support and early childhood, youth and family programs in Wheatland County and across Alberta. Our commitment is to be a good neighbour and community steward wherever we do business — and given that our Wheatland plant is now under construction, we’re going to be doing a lot more business in Alberta in the years to come!
