    Ever wondered why it’s so hard to find amazing quality sunscreen in North America compared to the EU? ☀️ The answer lies in outdated regulations and limited ingredients, leaving us lagging far behind Europe, South Korea and Japan. But why is that? Let’s take a deep dive👇 FDA Approval Process: The FDA regulates sunscreens as OTC drugs, requiring a lengthy approval process for new active ingredients. This delay prevents newer, more effective formulations from reaching the U.S. market quickly. Limited Ingredients: The FDA's list of approved sunscreen ingredients hasn’t changed much since the 90s. That’s right, the last time the FDA approved a new UV filter was over 20 years ago ⁉️ This means Americans miss out on newer, better, and most importantly safer sunscreens that are available in other countries. On the up-side, congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress has been on a mission to upgrade our sunscreen game. 💪 In collaboration with Charlotte Palermino from Dieux Skincare, she’s pushing for modernized regulations so we can enjoy the best protection available. 🇨🇦 Where does Canada stand in all of this? While Canadian regulations are a bit more progressive, they still face similar challenges, relying heavily on U.S. standards. 👉🏼 Bottom line: North Americans deserve better quality sunscreen that protects effectively without compromising on ingredients or appearance.     Last week we hosted our very first event in Vancouver and it was scary. I had flashbacks to elementary birthday parties, the voice in my head saying “what if no one shows up?!” Turns out, everyone showed up. Co-hosted with Paige Sandher of CouchHaus (a beautiful space, amazing products and now I have convinced myself I need a new custom couch...), it was truly a magical evening that’s left me with so much energy! Guests got to experience different aspects of how they can start their business with Blanka, and more importantly got to know our team on a personal level. I’m SO proud of our team, and especially Ashley and Beck for making the dream a reality. I can’t wait to empower those that attended the event to create their own beauty and wellness brands with Blanka. And a special thank you to our talented photographer/videographer for the night Arina for perfectly capturing the essence of the evening. I'm already looking forward to our next event on June 6th… Guess where it is?! Hint: Big 🍎
