Fifty years ago today, on May 24, 1974, Apotex was officially incorporated by our founder, Dr. Barry Sherman, marking the start of a remarkable journey. From its humble beginnings with just two employees to the iconic organization it is today, Apotex's growth and achievements have been nothing short of extraordinary. Over the last five decades, Apotex has consistently advocated for improved access to affordable medicine, building a solid foundation rooted in positively impacting the patient's journey to health. We are excited to announce that Apotex has signed an exclusive agreement with Coherus BioSciences to bring toripalimab to patients in Canada upon approval as a new treatment option for recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Our partnership with Coherus, a biopharmaceutical company that focuses on researching, developing, and commercializing #innovative therapies for #cancer treatment, is aligned with our strategic focus to expand our branded #pharmaceutical therapeutic areas. In 2019, British Columbia became the first province in Canada to maximize the use of #biosimilars to reduce pharmaceutical costs. Since then, the province has saved approximately $732 million by switching from branded reference biologics to more affordable biosimilars. These savings are being reinvested into BC PharmaCare to enhance coverage of other drugs and medical devices. Over the last five years, more provinces have followed BC’s lead, with cost-saving, ultimately contributing to the sustainability of Canadian healthcare systems.    Congratulations to the Province of British Columbia for its leadership and success.
