We are once again at the forefront of enhancing #PowerQuality in North America. This time in a Canadian #Nuclear Plant. In a recent project, faced with a demand for 630A of harmonic correction and space limitations hindering the installation of a single 630A solution, we met the challenge head-on. With our modular solution, we deployed two #COMSYS active dynamic filters (270A and 360A #ADF) strategically in different locations within the electrical room. 🎉 New Case Story 🎉 We're proud to share a recent success story featuring one of Canada's largest logistics companies. The company faced significant operational challenges due to power quality issues at one of its main distribution centers. 📍 Location: Canada 🏭 Industry: Distribution Centre/Logistics Our esteemed partner, ADM Engineering Ltd., conducted power quality studies and provided an analysis report identifying the root cause: severely leading power factor and high harmonic levels, primarily caused by the plant's 6-pulse VFDs with special capacitive input filters. 🛠️ Solution Our recommendation was the implementation of two custom Active Dynamic Filters (#ADF P300) – an 880A and a 770A model, equipped with our #PPM300 modules. These were installed to efficiently address and rectify the harmonic disturbances and power factor issues. 📊 Key Results ➡️ Plant operational stoppages significantly reduced, enhancing operational reliability. ➡️ Noticeable reduction in the temperature of transformers and generators. ➡️ Significant decrease in energy losses, saving about $20,000 per month by correcting power factor and eliminating harmonics. ➡️ Achieved a stable lagging power factor of 0.99 under all conditions. ➡️ Reduced voltage variations to nominal values. ➡️ Lowered current and voltage harmonics, leading to improved system stability. How ADM put a stop to a logistics company’s operation disruptions Challenge Canada’s top logistics firm experienced operational halts at their main distribution centre due to #PowerQuality issues. ADM carried out power quality studies and identified the problem's root cause. Following multiple audits, on-site measurements, and data analysis revealed leading power factor and high harmonic levels from nonlinear loads. ADM recommended Comsys Active Dynamic Filters (ADF) as the most viable solution. In the interim, operators had to deploy load banks as temporary corrective measures until ADM could implement the solution. Solution ADM engineered and manufactured two custom Active Dynamic Filters consisting of 880A and 770A ADF, utilizing advanced PPM300 modules. Results The ADF solution successfully eliminated harmonics and achieved near-unity lagging power factor, yielding significant cost savings and enhanced operational reliability. Additionally, the solution reduced transformer and generator operating temperatures, decreased losses and minimizes voltage variations.
