FAQ
Q1: Why does the output power momentarily drop to zero for 1 second when one USB-C port is charging a device and another device is plugged into the second USB-C port?
A: This is a normal occurrence. The Explorer 100 Plus will automatically readjust based on the charging requirements of the devices.
Q2: Why does my low-power device disconnect from charging mode while charging?
A: Press and hold the Display button to activate the low-current charging mode for continuous charging.
Q3: Why does the USB-C PD 100W max output port only output 45W of power for charging my device?
A: To achieve a maximum output power of 100W via USB-C, you'll need either the original USB-C charging cable or other USB-C cables capable that support 100W. Additionally, the device must have a maximum power support of 100W; otherwise, the output power will be limited to the maximum supported by the device. (e.g. If the device's maximum charging capability is only 45W, then the output will be limited to 45W for charging.)
Q4: Why does the Explorer 100 Plus consume power from my devices instead?
A: Devices with reverse charging capabilities occasionally experience instances of the energy storage being charged in reverse when connected to the USB-C port due to protocol issues. Reconnecting the devices several times usually restores normal operation.
Q5: Why does the Explorer 100 Plus, with a 100W charging power, only have a 40W power input?
A:1) USB-C 100W Input: To achieve a maximum input power of 100W via USB-C, you'll need a 100W USB-C wall charger along with either the original USB-C charging cable or other USB-C charging cables that support 100W.(100W USB-C wall charger is not included in the package.) 2) When the battery level is above 20% and under normal temperature conditions, the Explorer 100 Plus will charge at maximum power for the first 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, due to the characteristics of the LFP battery, a power reduction strategy is implemented to prevent the battery from remaining in a high-pressure state for an extended period. This transition aims to maintain a constant voltage to protect the battery's lifespan.

It's nice that it's using LiFePO4 cells, and just under the watt-hours limit for taking it in a carry-on. I consider that great for "portability" given its intended use case (micro solar generator that skips all the pointless steps if all you want to run is USB-C).
No issues charging it directly from a solar panel.
It was able to charge everything I tried.
What absolutely drags it down is the charging via USB-C. Once it gets below 80% you are looking at HOURS of charging time, and thats such a missed opportunity. I have mine on a high-speed plug and it's looking to take nearly 90 minutes to charge. I just don't get this choice for charging.
I'd still recommend the 100plus but I hope they release a new one that charges like the 300.

1) If you plug a second USB type-C device while the other USB-C port is already active, both USB-C ports reset and stop providing power for around 1 second while it renegotiates charging speed for the two plugged-in devices.
This is disappointing for its target market - i.e. outdoors and camping. If you're using this with a LiIon/NiMh battery charger but decide to plug-in your cell phone for a quick top off, it'll reset the charger and therefore your selected battery type and charging speeds. If this happens at the tail-end of a NiMH charging cycle the charger may reset before it can reliably detect the d/dt curve of the battery, causing it to overfill the battery, etc.
Many battery chargers also use pulse-width modulation (PWM) that the Jackery doesn't seem to be able to measure well and occasionally the Jackery will power-off or reset the port, even if you don't plug or unplug a second device because it thinks the charger is drawing 0 watts.
This behavior is also poses problems if you're using it to run a Raspberry Pi or other mini-computer without a battery as it will ungracefully reboot when it loses power this way.
2) It doesn't negotiate power delivery very well. On my Lenovo laptop it supports either 45 W charging (15V at 3A) or 65 W fast charging (20V at 3.25 A) and with the Jackery it only negotiates the 45 W charging even though the Jackery supports 20V at 5A charging.
This happens with multiple laptops.
I don't know if the Jackery is firmware update-able via one of it's type-C ports so I think we're stuck with this behavior, unfortunately.
If you don't mind these limitations the fact that this is a LiFePo4 (li-ion phosphate) battery in such a small package it really is awesome. Many of the other manufacturers have adopted LiFePo4 in there bigger 'solar generators' such as Anker, EcoFlow, etc. but none of introduced a small form-factor device like this Jackery.
Other small-form factor portable chargers like the Anker 737, for example, are still using regular li-ion batteries that have 300 - 500 charging cycles from 0 - 100 % before degrading to 80 % of it's original battery capacity - this portable charger lasts 2000 cycles from 0 - 100 % before degrading to 80 % - lasting you much longer than other portable chargers on the market.
It also charges very quickly from 0 - typically within an hour-an-a-half without getting very warm.
Since the 100 plus looks just like the big power stations, it would be cool if you could connect
up and stack a few of these together. Also make the appropriate sized add on battery like the big dogs. The above was for my first Jackery Explorer plus
For my second Jackery Explorer plus received yesterday was previously opened sent by ECO, no one new what that meant, the jackery box was shipped in plastic bag not a box. Blah blah blah
Jackery was no help. On the future purchases of Jackery products will be from Ships and sold by Amazon. Jackery is still not getting what I need on purchasing a lost solarsaga 100 cable. The most convoluted procedures so far communicating with jackery. Love their products but it looks like jackery is losing control of their processes using 2nd parry shipping and customer service possibly. Blah blah blah jackery. I don't think you care. I spent over two hours going back and forth between Amazon and Jackery. Amazon rep agreed with me and got permission to refund and said to keep or give it away. I told my neighbor as a retired electronics engineer I would not trust an opened unit, it could have been returned defective and I'm not plugging my stuff. I told him that they said I didn't have to return it and I could keep it, give it someone or throw it away, I choose throw it away and my friend took it out and said he could use it but I warned him it could be defective. Thank you Amazon for handling this when you didn't have to. Amazon 1, jackery 0. For me just an unimportant customer that owns 6 power stations and one solar panel with lost cable and jackery does not sell them on their second party website. No joy. Still buy jackeries but only from Amazon.
