In today’s world, NFL players use social media to talk to their fans and build their brands. They can share their thoughts, argue, or even make podcasts.

Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys is one of them.

He started a podcast called “The Edge with Micah Parsons” in 2023. He also signed a big deal with Bleacher Report, making him the president of B/R Gridiron, which focuses on NFL content. Pretty cool, right?

But not everyone is happy about it. Cowboys safety Malik Hooker questioned Parsons’ priorities on the “All Facts No Brake” podcast with Keyshawn Johnson. Hooker said, “My advice for Micah would be just make sure we’re alright,” adding that if the team’s run game is struggling while Parsons is busy podcasting, it raises questions about his focus.

Parsons didn’t like this criticism. He responded in a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Just wish you said this to me but instead on some podcast! And you got my number family! [Malik Hooker] and you my locker mate! So you coulda said this any day! And you do realize I shoot the podcast on our off day! I why ain’t we talking about everyone preparations and focus.”

Despite these issues, Parsons has been very successful early in his career. He was named Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2021 and has recorded 40.5 sacks over three seasons, earning Pro Bowl honors each year.

However, things haven’t been smooth for the Cowboys as a team. They’ve won 12 games each season for three years but only have one playoff win to show for it. Their last playoff game was a tough loss against the Green Bay Packers, where they allowed 143 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Dallas will start training camp on July 23 in Oxnard, California. Like quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, Parsons is looking for a long-term contract extension from the team.

The upcoming season will be crucial for the Cowboys’ current roster. Everyone knows it’s time to deliver results.
