NFL Insider Denies Steelers Trade for Brandon Aiyuk

The Pittsburgh Steelers are known for doing things their own way. They don’t like to change coaches or trade for big-name wide receivers from other teams. This is why Albert Breer from Sports Illustrated said the Steelers won’t be getting Brandon Aiyuk from the San Francisco 49ers.

Breer’s comments are based on history.

In his column, Breer humorously pointed out that the last time the Steelers brought in a top receiver who wasn’t originally with them was during World War II. It’s been ages since they did something like that. He said, “We’ve been through this. The Pittsburgh Steelers really don’t go outside the organization to fill that position.”

Since Chuck Noll became head coach, the Steelers have excelled at drafting and developing their own receivers. They prefer to grow talent from within rather than look outside.

Even though some think Brandon Aiyuk could be what the Steelers need, these rumors never seemed serious. I always thought Washington Commanders were more likely to get him, but they passed.

Now, Aiyuk keeps posting mysterious messages online about his future. It’s all a bit confusing.

Albert Breer firmly believes Aiyuk isn’t heading to Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh’s head coach Mike Tomlin has so much power because he consistently wins games. This stability allows him to make decisions without much pushback, even if some problems are self-inflicted.

Hiring Arthur Smith as offensive coordinator might seem like an easy target for blame if things go wrong. Smith had mixed results in Atlanta due to his love for running the ball, leading to his dismissal after three seasons with a 7-10 record each year.

Aiyuk’s frustration in Kyle Shanahan’s offense stems from not getting enough passes despite its ground-focused nature and quarterback Brock Purdy’s limitations. This has restricted Aiyuk’s performance somewhat.

Time is running out for any potential moves, so it’s likely Aiyuk will stay in San Francisco with a new contract.
