Yes,  quarterback Jordan Love showed he’s got the skills to be one of the top NFL quarterbacks last season. He was so good that he’s expected to get a $200 million contract extension. But, like everyone, he has areas to improve.

Love, 25, is ahead of many quarterbacks his age after learning from four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers for two years. Yet, he still makes mistakes.

If the Packers want to become top contenders, Love needs to fix this flaw.

Packers QB Jordan Love has to cut down the turnovers before the 2024 season.

With his elite arm talent, Love sometimes attempts risky throws in tight windows. More often than not, he pulls it off because of his ability to sling the rock. But when it fails, it can be costly for him and the Packers.

Remember Green Bay’s final play in the 2023 NFC Divisional Round against the San Francisco 49ers? Love rolled out and tried a tough cross-body throw to the middle of the field aimed at wide receiver Christian Watson. Less than a minute left, and the Packers’ season ended with that mistake.

Time was ticking, and Green Bay needed at least 30 more yards to tie the game. They had two timeouts and it was first down. Why didn’t Love just throw the ball away?

“It’s something that’s always with you,” Love said during Green Bay’s OTAs last week, per Bill Huber. “… you’ve got to learn from it, be able to watch it, break it down, see what went wrong, learn from it and grow and move on.”

Despite ranking second in passing touchdowns (32) and seventh in yards (4,159), Love tied for the fifth-most interceptions (11). Reducing turnovers would be a big step for him and the Packers as they aim to be more than just an underdog story.
