GERRITSEN BEACH — ONE MAN DIED in a boat collision on Saturday morning in Shell Bank Creek, near the end of Avenue X, reports Gothamist. A small boat carrying three people collided with an 18-foot boat carrying one man, sending all four into the water. An FDNY boat was nearby and quickly came to the aid of the victims, but a 58-year-old man from the smaller vessel, identified as Radik Galeev, was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital; the other passengers are in stable condition.

Police say no “criminality” is suspected in the incident, but are investigating the causes. Galeev’s widow, Tatsiyana Rymasheuskaya, from the smaller boat, told the Daily News that she attempted to save her husband after regaining consciousness following the crash, but that he was already unresponsive.
