GRACIE MANSION — ‘WELCOME TO OUR TRASH REVOLUTION,’ Mayor Eric Adams said at a press conference Monday introducing the official NYC Bin for residential trash and recycling. The introduction was part of the city’s continuing push to containerize garbage to keep out rats. The bins introduced Monday are designed for everything from a single-family home to a nine-unit brownstone building and are equipped with wheels and a secure latching lid. Prices are below $50 for the most common size, Adams said. Beginning November 12, all New York City properties with 1-9 residential units must use a bin with a secure lid for trash. After a grace period and a warning period, fines for not containerizing trash will start at $50, said  Department of Sanitation Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
