DOT painting and steel repair project will close Hamilton Ave. Exit ramp from BQE westbound

RED HOOK — THE EXIT 26 RAMP FROM THE WESTBOUND BQE to Hamilton Avenue will be closed overnight for a major NY State Department of Transportation (DOT) maintenance project. The DOT announced Monday, July 8, starting that night through Sunday, July 14, westbound Exit 26 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. to facilitate work on NYSDOT’s $168 million Gowanus Expressway (I-278) Painting and Steel Repairs Project, from the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel to 6th Avenue in Brooklyn. Motorists needing to access outbound Hamilton Ave. should take Exit 27 (Atlantic Avenue) and follow the signed detour. Hamilton Ave. stretches from Van Brunt St. in Red Hook to Prospect Avenue in Windsor Terrace.
