FLATBUSH — POLICE ON FRIDAY found a gruesome scene in East Flatbush, reports NBC News: responding to a 911 call placed by a social worker at a Linden Avenue apartment shortly after noon, officers discovered the body of resident Shirley Awer, age 67, stuffed inside of a box, with visible head trauma. Paramedics pronounced her deceased shortly afterward. Law enforcement sources told NBC that Awer’s son, David Drummond, age 30, hit Awer in the head and face before putting her body into the box. He reportedly suffers from schizophrenia, according to the New York Post, and was arrested on murder charges after allegedly confessing to the crime.
“I’m in shock. This is scary. I mean, in the manner she was murdered, if that’s what they’re saying is correct. I feel for the family,” neighbor Denise Ingram told NBC.
