The owners of Southport pier (Sefton Council) are being asked by their current insurers to fit an extensive CCTV system, covering both the decking and below with audio messaging capability, a rather onerous and expensive new requirement.

Do other coastal destination with publicly or privately owned piers have/are facing similar requirements? Do you have any other detail regarding insurance requirements, details of policies or of insurance companies used If not do you have contact details for those that might have access to this information? Knowing that you are not being required to use CCTV may be as useful as knowing that you are. Information on insurance issues on similar large scale publicly accessible structure may also be helpful.
